Things have been quiet 'round these parts.  Don't know if another re-colored vest will generate any interest but here is a pic of my vest regardless.

If cost is keeping you from a vest of your own, you should think about hooking one up on the cheap like I did for my boys.  There are lots of cheap vests on Ebay (most under $20.00) and you can score patches for around $40.00 from Mondotees.

I made the patches that are on my kids vests and in the end spent about $50.00 a piece when all was said and done. Doesn't factor in all the labor and time running around town for materials - but what the heck, it was a labor of love.

Yeah 150 dollars is too much for me to pay for a vest (I am only 15 :()
Thanks for the nice info :D I might check ebay for a cheap vest or buy one from a thrift store and hook it up with the warriors  patch soon.
Your kids are really lucky to have such a cool dad that hooks up with their on warriors vests, I'm jealous

NICE work, Uriah!

See? This is all we've been asking for. To see some pics on a person and not some torso mannequin that was photoshopped!

If I may ask, how DID you color the vest. and what size is it..?
I am 6'2, 230 and I have an XL from A-1 that fits well but 4 buttons, patches are too small and it's nor red enough...

:)

Sorry for the delayed response boppers. Got banned about 4 days ago for a "disrespectful" remark in the shout box.  Had to do my time.

I'm 5'8" and weigh about 180lbs.  I went to the Mondotees store and tried on every vest from small to large (though they probably carry XL and XXL).  The small looked very fitted on me but I couldn't button it.  The medium still looked pretty tight but I can button it up (though I'll probably never wear it that way).  The large still looked decent but the fit wasn't as clingy as I wanted.  So I went with the medium.

To re-color it, I thought about dying the leather - but since the patches were sewn on this would have been tricky.  Plus, I would have had to strip the leather with a deglazer before I could apply the dye and all in all, it just seemed to expensive, time consuming and once I started there would be no going back.

So I started exploring other options and found a local airbrush artist whose specialty is doing body paint on nude models.  I figured this was someone who could work well with organic, skin-like texture and tones of leather.  Her name is Amy and you can visit her site here: http://www.airbrushbyamy.com/

I brought a piece of leather to her that had the burnt sienna/maroon color I wanted the vest to match and asked her to also add some subtle weathering so the vest would have some slight inconsistencies in color (the pics don't capture any of this loveliness).  Two days after drop off she had the vest complete.  I love how it came out.

Well it looks like mondotees isn't selling the vests online anymore.  So now they are a fine collectors item. Oh well.

You sure?  I just checked ebay and there are two mondo vests on sale right now.  Just search "warriors vest".

They're gone now and also indeed gone from the MONDOTEES site. I wonder if Paramount cracked down?
