Something Possessed Me To Spend Sunday With A Scalpel Cutting Strips Of Leather And Sewing Them Onto The Vest I've Been Meaning To Make For 30 Years...Needs Some trimming & Restitching Here & There But I'm Rather Pleased With It So Far...

It's coming along fine. I would think about excluding the beige piping though.

Your piping looks more like the real thing than most of the other vests.

The color of the vest and lining, are spot on. I agree with 9th and would remove the tan underlay. Are u going to vintage the patches?

Let's not forget that we have confirmation from an owner of an original vest that here is indeed an underlay beneath the piping!

Wet TEA bags (I'll wait for the jokes), dirt and water work just as well.

Thanks to all of you guys on the great comments. Well to answer a few questions. The material came from Fabricland (not sure if any of you know that store) And the vest itself will let you adjust how snug you want it and when it is complete it will also adjust at the shoulders for if you want it to sit higher up on your torso (it's kinda a one fit for all sizes kinda deal). The cost of everything i got puts me at about $30 to $40 but when I make my vest (in marpat) I will have a better estimate for you guys because it has already taken me a week just to do this one. But I have had to travel back and forth from my parents place to use my mother sewing machine. In the next week or so I will be buying my own so I can do this all at my own house.
