Diamond Hole Punch?

Post by chrismasonic »

i'm having no luck in my search for a diamond shaped leather hole punch to make my trim with...i've sat for hours with a craft knife cutting diamonds but i'm not happy with the results...desperate for a hole punch that'll do a nice clean cut diamond...anyone?

I too went though this exhaustive search, with bitter, empty results

At this point, you're likely better off availing yourself og LIER ONE's factory types:

i just can't believe such a simple hollow diamond shaped hole punch does not exist...i'm actually amazed...i'd happily sit for a few hours and create my own trim if the tool existed...but i havn't found any evidence of it yet...and i've been searching for a couple of hours now

As you've said, you're all about the bespoke, which bespeaks highly of you

looks like its back to the scalpel...and bespoke blisters on my thumbs...
i've been leather shopping today...i've decided i really want to do everything myself on this vest (apart from the patches)...i've found some really nice nappa leathers to make it from...it looks like the leather for the vest is going to cost me about £40-£50 and i can make the trim from scraps that i found in the £2 per LB bucket...so i'm gonna have to make sure i get the pattern down.

I am making piping, and will post samples in about a week. You can wait for that, but I too couldn't find a diamond dye and then you have the mini circles.

just had this quote from a leather tools place

"In stock I have a diamond shape 3/4" x 5/16" which would just need a shank attaching

This can be done for £45 plus £6 carriage plus vat

We can also do the hole punch as a stock item at £12.80 plus vat"

quite steep eh?

if you have yours ready soon lier i'll probably go for that unless i've stayed up all night making my own...i never know

Believe it or not, I made mine with a cheap paper hole punch similar to this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/Small-Diamond-Paper ... .m20.l1116

The leather I used was thin enough that the hole punch worked.  I used a cheap lambskin leather and just cut my own strips and used the hole punch.  It was a bit rough and uneven and some of the diamonds came out crooked, but was really cheap and I was ok with it.
