I wonder why David Harris didn't keep his original vest.

i agree,in an interview warchief asked cowboy if he kept his hat & vest.cowboy said yes.maybe warchief can ask about the patches being removed.also i think tom hanks vest is a leftover with no patches,used for stunt doubles.if the patches were removed you would see holes from the old patches because the warbird is smaller than the original.the vest on ebay has a gloss finish.by the end of the movie on the beach the vests looked distressed and worn.

I'm sort of guessing it's a fake vest, when it says that is is signed 'Cochese' when his name is spelled 'Cochise'. I don't think its a typo when it says it more than once.

thats a good point.i contacted him asking to see the cochise signature.he said he did not have any pics of it.

Great looking vest and all... but I really don't think it's a real one.  Something about the trim, color and over-all look that just doesn't seem right.  Could be wrong, but there is something fishy here.

i just finished looking at this vest in photo shopi zoomed in so close you can see the stiching holes from
the original patches near the top of the warbird. also the real vest is not red or maroon at all ,the lighting during filming made the vest
look maroon.its hard to believe it the real deal.
