Anyone actually own a A-1 warriors vest?

Post by haterist »

just wondering if anyone actually owns one? and how it fits?
i'm interested in picking one up but i'm kind of wee-folk(5' 7" 130lbs.) and i don't want to pick one up and end up swimming in it.
if anyone is about the same size as me and owns one, any info would be a great help.

thanks in advance. :)

I own a XL, fits great. Not too happy about the patch work as they are inaccurate and I am getting a set via ebay from cleon to replace them.

it looks like a-1 is getting the shaft so....
and from your post, it seems the vest isn't worth $200 considering i'm gonna have to get some other stuff for it....waht to do?

BTW, sorry for starting this thread, i see the other one so i guess this can be closed or moved. again my apologies.

well if a-1 sold the vest without his patches than you can sew on cleons. the problem with switching the patches is that cleons patch is smaller so the pin holes from the sewing needle can be seen after 1-1's patch is removed.

I now have two, an older version that I got from SHM in a trade, and the latest version. The one I got from SHM is a little big, and I am saving that one, and using it as a display piece in my collection. My newer one is a size smaller and I wear it.

Anyway, the older version I have has a pretty inacurate patch, but my newer vest is the updated version he has for sale now, and the patch is excellent. It isn't perfect, but damn close enough. The only real problem I have with it is the skulls teeth, they should be pointy, but that isn't a big enough problem to really bother me. I do agree that warriorcleons look better, but they aren't perfect either. The biggest problem being the warbird doesn't have the black background like it should.

The only way you are going to get a completely acurate vest is to hope to find an actual vest used in the film, and then shell out thousands of dollars. The chances of someone else making replica vests are pretty slim I think.

$200.00 does seem pretty high for one, BUT, I have seen plenty of leather vests with much less detail, and of course no giant multi color patches, sell for the same price.

If I were you, I would jump on these ASAP, I think you will be very happy with it once it is in your hands, and since Dale can no longer make/sell these, act fast before he is sold out of his current stock!

thats for the info guys but i'm still on the fence about buying one?
i'm kind of a stickler when it comes to accuracy and crap like that and i don't want to get it, then feel like i got robbed because i have to make changes/fixes to something i just paid $200 for.
in the end, i'll end up having to spend more money for a more accurate patch(don't have clue how much?), then pay more money to the dry cleaners have the patch sewn(sp?), and then be left with unsightly needle holes from the previous patch??? :?
ahhh what to do?, what to do?
its not even a issue about the money, its more of an issue of will i be pissed when i get it? will it be up to par with what i think is acceptable for $200? and will the size i pick actually fit me?
i would hate to get it only to find out its totally craptastic and even worse, it doesn't fit me. then to top it off, i find out a-1 doesn't give refunds or exchanges(i have no idea, i'll have to read the FAQ on the site) and be stuck with a lame arse vest that doesn't fit or look right.
as you can see i'm kind of nutty/anal/paranoid/retarded when it comes to my purchases...anything over a $100 gets put under the microscope. :p

does anyone have a pic of this guy Cleons patch? in comparison to the A-1 patch? also if someone with a small build(i'm not a big dude) took a pic of them wearing one, that would actually help alot. my apologies if i'm coming across as too needy. :p

BTW who's SHM? and warriors cleons?

I saw "warriorcleon" had a patch for sale on ebay. Search for that name and see if he still has it, else check past auctions and find it that way.

wow, shm, thats a good vest. and the black thing around it makes it look like one of the bast vests i've ever seen! but if you could somehow change the color of the piping, it would be perfect. i like it.

Hey Haterist. Did you eventually get yourself an A1 vest or are you still holding out?  For anyone wondering about the size of the vest, this may be of some help.  I recieved my vest a few days ago, size medium. Im six ft 2 and slim build. Width ways, the vest has plenty of room. if it was any wider i would be swimming in it.  vertically, its a little on the short side. it could do with being at least a couple of inches longer. And what everyone else says is true, the arm holes are a bit too large. Anyone in the uk thats thinking of getting one, i paid ?130 incuding shipping.

Hope this is of some help to those wanting a vest or making their own. The numbers scralled over the vest represent the size in inches.
