NEW ROCKER

Post by LIER ONE »

I have told you all about the vest I am trying to make ( I know I am prob gettin annoying) but I just received the ROCKER. I had it made on CANVAS with the WARRIORS printed with black stitch around and RED embroidery around the whole patch. I REALLY like the way this came out. I think with some "vintaging" it will look awsome. I think this looks a little more screen acurate. Let me know what you guys think.

Its turned out ok.  Not so sure about the screen printed lettering as far as screen acuracy goes.  After spending too long looking at zoomed in pictures of movie patches, i'm convinced the letters are cut out of material (possibily a red dyed canvas or felt) and sewn on top.  The black border looks thicker on the movie rocker because its holding the letters on the main strip.

I think if they were individually cut (which is difficult) and then stitched, it would have been higher than the rest of the patch (even with the stitching). I would have liked the border around the letters to be thicker. These are just pre-lim samples (I got 5 pcs) so i can change it up. I know my factory will come back and say they can't do the die cut letters, but will ask. I used the below pic as a reference (even tho we don't know if it is really) because I liked the look of this. Let me know some other pointers.

**I got an inkling it's gonna be the one the children bicker over, it's that warriors vs baseball fury element that glitches motor sensory developement, i am a star really,**

After looking at screen shots all day and going over the two below "screen worn" vest, these are what I find. The golden closet:Image i think that they used replica patches and went for a full emroidered patch. The screen worn swan vest that went for $10,000.00 Image it is a canvas patch with printing and emroidery (especially if you go to the listing and use the magnifier). I think this is the most screen acurate. Below is the revisions I am going to do to mine:

1) Add 3" to each end. Rocker should be a little longer compared to my warbird.

2) Proportion the letters to the new size and better space it.

3) Die cut each letter and embroider with thicker black stitch to the canvas backing. (Thanks 9th I think you are correct)

4) change the border around the whole patch to printed, not embroidery (even tho it looks good. the swan's is printed).

I'd like to know what you guys (especially 9th, 4nik & tricender cause I know you are as passionate about screen acurate as me what you would do if you were able to make what you wanted). Thanks.

Got the PIPING, 70% there (I think) as far as ROCKER. My Warbird is missing the black border around it, but I have ordered this and will just cut around. 80% of the vintaging on that. Just need a vest and apply all of them. Syked that I am this much closer. I think it is so much better making the vest. Feels like I am earning it.

The red border is definatly a seperate peice of material to the rest of the rocker.  You can just notice on the top right corner where the red has frayed and "bled" into the white.  Also, after close examination, there's whit stitching all the way in the middle of the red border.
When your making the corrections to the lettering, concentrait on the letter R.  It looks like it has a more defined "knee cap"

I also noticed on the warbird skull, the embroidery is made up of horizontal rows of vertical stitches.

Does the bottom of the vest look like it has a slight arch shape to it  Its not a straight line like the replica vest construction.

I took your notes and just added my comments in red. hope you don't mind. I srictly using swans screen worn as a reference:

The red border is definatly a seperate peice of material to the rest of the rocker.  You can just notice on the top right corner where the red has frayed and "bled" into the white. I def think it it red print. There is a border around the whole patch which is sew space.  Also, after close examination, there's whit stitching all the way in the middle of the red border. That is what they used to attach the patch to the vest and they didn't use the sew space and just went through the middle of the red border.

Below is the LIERONE ROCKER version2. I made the RED border a print instead of embroidery. I revised ALL the RED printing and made the embroidery around the letters thicker. let me know what you all think.
