It would have to definatley be the legendary Peter Pan. I would have my mother read this every night to me. It captured the imagination of what it is like to be a child at heart and follow our dreams. I never put the adventure down.

I used to love the Arthur series, and when I got a little older I loved the Junie B. Jones series. XD My brother and I STILL quote those books. "There's a monster under my bed! Run Helen, run like the wind!"

My favorite childhood used to be a book called "Shoes" You would read about little kids learn to tie their shoes along with rhymes.

I got into the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton when I was around, I don't know, nine or ten. Read the whole series. Then I tried the Secret Seven books and just didn't find the same appeal. Maybe two extra characters was too much to deal with, or more likely it was just because they weren't the Famous Five.
When I was much, much younger, at an age for having bedtime stories read to me, it was all about the Mr Men. 8)

I remember reading the Magic Tree House, which was about two kids who used a tree house to go back in time to different events like the Titanic or the civil war. I also used to read the Ramona and Beezus series with my sister.
