the X button performs heavy assaults, Square pulls off the light attacks, and pressing the two together activates stronger special moves. Further supplementing these basic strikes, you can also string together a number of button taps for various combinations or even tap Circle if you want to grab a guy and beat him up at close range. Using the analog stick and the circle button afterwards, you can also toss your captured foe in any direction or simply hit L2 to let him go. Additional battle commands like Target (L1) and Block (R1) have been included as well, and you can even perform quick "Snap Attacks" with the simultaneous depression of towards and Square.
you can also reverse of any of your opponent's moves. Players can toss off enemies that are holding them still, turn punches against their foes, or even participate in a reversal string for several moves in a row. Furthermore, users can pick up any object in the environment and use it as a weapon, too. One aspect I liked in particular is that Rockstar Toronto has opted not to include guns of any kind for the weapon types. This isn't necessarily a moral decision mind you, but one that ensures that the action stays up close and personal and that the focus remains on melee combat.
Adding yet another layer to the combat system is the implementation of a Rage Mode. Activated by holding R1 and L1 together when your Rage Meter is full, this handy little feature boosts adrenalin so that your characters can do more damage and can gain access to two unique special moves that are otherwise unavailable. No two Rage Attacks will ever be the same either, as all nine characters (Cleon, Ajax, Swan, Snow, Cochise, Cowboy, Vermin, Fox, and of course, Rembrandt) have been given an arsenal specific to their personality and fighting styles taken from the movie. Throw in three different fighting styles (Street Fighting, Brawling, and Kung Fu), multi-character tandem attacks, special tackles, drags and stomps, and the fact that your CPU enemies have all the same abilities that you do, and the available depth here becomes rather impressive.
so...
X= heavy attack
Square= light attack
X + Square = specials
O= grab/throw   L2> let go
L1= target
R1= block
hold R1 and L1 together (rage is full)= Rage mode unique specials
 R2 and right analog stick Gang commands
the grab button might be involved in timed reversals too maybe.

I really wanna see these rage attacks. Especially the Fox's and Rembrandt's.

fighting controls kinda relate to the controls for manhunt. good.
as for rembrandts rage attack, it's gotta be like, Spray paint in the face, tackle them to the ground & pound them

i'm glad the fighting is brutal and not kinda like it as in the film. (not that it was bad.)

Re: Game Controls
Just like Rockstar to use the Good Controls Espicially targetting...This reminds me of how the manhunt ssystem works only it doesn't have combos and all thatsaner wrote:got this from IGN

Manhunt's a classic game.

So i guess that leaves triangle to jump? How else are you gonna jump fences. And i guess R3 or L3 will be Look ( first person looking), and crouch.

ya. from what im reading it looks like GTA:SA & Manhunt kinda rolled up. which is good. both had some good features and stuff as far as controls go. im really excited for this game. if it features more man hunt controls ill like it. i thought the sneaking around from man hunt was great. hopfully this will feature some of that. that made that game really amazing. rockstar does re use its ideas alot. but make them better evrytime so, we have enjoyed there past games. and i know we are all gonna really enjoy this one.
