Especially because im from his home town too, everyone just didnt seem to be able to take it in.
I was a bit too young and not into music so much for Kurt Cobains death but i really got into Nirvana when i was about 13.
I defenitly think the music industry woud be alot different if Lennon and Cobain where alive.
Hmm
do you think the beatles would have eventually got back together had lennon lived?
Me and my dad always talk about how good it would be if The Beatles had got back together, if John Lennon hadn't of died I think they would of got back together.. Even after george Harrison died, they could of replaced him (you can't ever replace him just a stand in while there on tour)... they deffinatley would of reforemd for a while, and it would of been kick ass!!!

Imagine that... <<< how clever was that eh?

And it's funny to me,if John Lennon were still alive today..
And If George was still alive today,AND...if they got back together..
With the rest of The Beatles.. Here in The States..
And Just Like The Police when they got back together
and The Rolling Stones,when they went on tour
I could  [glow=red,2,300]Imagine <--- ;)[/glow]
The Corporate Sponcership
for their tour..

Picture it..

i think when people like bowie(the thin white duke!i love that nickname for him  :lol:) and elton john start dropping the reaction will be massive same with jagger and the stones plus the last 2 from the who!
but you have to say that elvis and lennon are probably the most mentioned huh!
i wonder how the world will react to michael jacksons death??? :? :?
I think Stevie Wonders death will impact music more.. He is one talented chap.. watch this video, tremendous!
OMG..How could I forget Stevie Wonder??  :shock:
Or How about Smokey Robinson??

IMO The Beatles where the greatest band in the world, ever, full stop. Before they started doing drugs and there songs became wierd,
Thats just my opinion though.

And youve all forgot a mod rocker legend.
The man who practically invented indie.
Paul Weller.
He will be missed.
Going Underground is one of my favourite songs.

Sorry for the confusion.

NO mention of Sid Vicious?? Well I'll be the one to mention him. I wasn't around when things we're going on with him, but I've grown to love his music and the way he was a poster boy for rebellion and punk rock. He had a massive impact when he died.

9 times out of 10 his amplifier was turned off when they played live cause he couldnt play bass guitar,he only got asked to join the band cause he looked the part and was the pistols's biggest fan!

It's funny as I read some of these responces..
I kind of knew that this topic would branch off into a different perspective..
While the musicians who are alive are still alive
And you begin to wonder,what their impact will be when their gone..
Some that came to my mind now were
[glow=red,2,300]David Bowie[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Garth Brooks[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Elton John[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Lou Reed[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Whitney Houston[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Jeff Beck[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Mariah Carey[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]LL Cool J[/glow]
And now,how this topic has manifested
We at times find ourselves talking about musicians,
who have long since left us..
And now I think about people who were not mentioned?

[glow=red,2,300]Ronny Van Zant[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Buddy Holly[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Otis Redding[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Marvin Gaye[/glow]
[glow=red,2,300]Johnny Cash[/glow]

This is a really good Topic,I want to hear what else,The members of The Forum,have to say??..
I did mention some Good Names!!!

Even though I don't like her, when Madonna dies, I think its going to be a huge impact on alot of people, I know she was huge in the 80's.

My cousin cried her heart out when she found out that Kurt Cobain killed himself, definitly the biggest impact for the new generation.

'Dimebag' Darrell Abbott influenced me alot. In Columbus he was shot and killed on stage by a fan, who had also shot several other security guards, the stage crew and a fan.

John Bonham's death impacted alot of people too. In my opinion he is the greatest drummer ever. Everyone still refers to him as "the late, great John Bonham"

But I think John Lennon's death had the biggest impact ever. Thousands of people still go to his 'Imagine' Memorial every anniversary to the day he died and was born. There are still people who can still remember what they were doing and where they were when they found out Lennon was shot. I don't think any Artist's death will even come close to the impact his death had on the world.
We're gonna make it back. We came this far and we're gonna make it the rest of the way!

But yes, we are somewhat straying from the topic. My original focus was on artist who were so huge (not always the best, just the most popular) and which artists will impact their generation the most when they are gone.
That is the beauty of This Topic,how It morphed from one thing and into another,
I'm telling you soon,This will spark an idea soon enough,to Start Yet another thread..
And to think that it took The 30th Anniversary of Elvis Presley's Death to Start This Thread!!
I love it..Keep them coming!!!

Although he is not dead, and in my opinion won't be for a long while (others are deffinately going to disagree with me on this...) Pete Doherty.. Yes he may have been a druggy (I read he's clean now).. But his music is amazing, he's one talented fella..

For people who do know him, and haven't listened to his music with Babyshambles or The Libertines.. LISTEN TO IT!.. Stop judging him for what you have read in the newspaper.. Fair enough he did, or does drugs... but its Rock N Roll! All the top bands have done it, The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles! Nobody cared as much when they did it.. But get a supermodel girlfriend and everyone seems to care.

Everyone my age who live near me, see him as a great musician.. His death deffinatley will affect lots of people around my age.

I know the gratlegendary singer B.B. King is not gone yet (Thank God), but just the other day in my college I saw some students listening to his music.  I find it amazinf how so many years have gone by, that when he is gone, I can bet future generationswill be appreciating the essence, and existence of his life force.  His music glowed with the aura of greatness and forever will.

ACTUALLY, Sid Vicious was a drummer who wanted to be in the Sex Pistols, but was denied. Immediately realizing his image was good for the band, they had him take up bass. Due to differences with some in the band, he wasn't allowed near the recording studio during "Nevermind The Bollocks." However, how can you EVER sit there and say that his cover of My Way wasn't a Classic in the punk rock history books?

I am so glad you just said that, ive had many arguments over people about Pete Doherty, i completely disagree with his lifestyle but he is a musical genius and there is no denying that.
