Digital art

Well, with the whole five posts per day routine that you guys have going on here, I thought that I may as well register - I've been lurking way too long.
So anyway, I thought if I get five a day, those five better be good quality. This being both my first post and topic down here, I thought I'd do it about an area I'm comfortable in, digital art. I'll try and keep a regular flow of the stuff, but here's a teaser:

... Okay, so I suck at backgrounds, but using black backdrops is so much easier...
Other than that though, I'm pretty chuffed with it. I used a base pencil sketch and relied heavily on a refrence photo, then scanned it into Photoshop CS - which I adore, to do the primary colour and finally finished up with highlights and lighting based on the original reference photo.
Maybe next time round I'll use more imagination and less refrence - Come up with something truly original. In the meantime, enjoy.
