Retro Arcade Classics Collections

Post by Marlboroprojects »

This is really a continuation of the post I made in Company Scum's thread about Capcom classics, but since he's just discussing Capcom I didn't want to hijack his thread with posts on these other collections. Anywho............

If you grew up hanging out in arcades in the 80's & early 90's spending all you're money shoving quarters into video games, you will definitely appreciate these discs. The problem was, back then the only video game system that really "brought the arcade games home" was the Atari 2600, and due to the limitations of the system, the translations quite frankly sucked. (with the exception of maybe Space Invaders, which was pretty faithful to the arcade version)

Now, with these collections, you can literally play arcade perfect versions of just about every game that was out at that time. Not only that, but if you really feel nostalgic for the good ol' days, The Atari collection even has like 50 games from the 2600 on the disc. (For fans of old gaming systems, there are also collections from Intellevision, Sega, & Activision that I won't get into here). Some things to also note:

*These games are available for all systems (PS2, XBOX, & Gamecube)
*They retail for about $19.99 new (less if you can find them used)
* Besides the actual games themselves, the discs have lots of cool bonus stuff like video interviews with the game's designers, original arcade cabinet artwork, ect.

Here now, the games ;) :

Heh, excellent post.

I've played Midways Arcade Treasures Volume 2, Pitfighter is such an awful game, I was laughing the entire time playing it with my brother and his friend.

I recently bought Namco 50th Anniversary, but I got it on the Gameboy, it only has Ms. Pacman, Pacman, Dig Dug, Galaga, and Rally X. I still like it.
