Glasgow Rangers/Glasgow Celtic - The Auld Firm (Old Firm for those who dont know their Scottish  ) Many many fights have been had because of these , which is a bad thing I know, but on match day its the mot exciting thing ever, the citys buzzin' and practically the whole country is watching. One of the greatest sporting rivalries in the world  8)

Celtic/Rangers has to be one of the Biggest in terms of football, it's such a spectacle, maybe not so much in the last year or so. Liverpool/Man. U is probably the biggest Rivalry in England even though they aren't from the same city.

Detroit Red Wings/Colorado Avalanche is quite a fierce rivalry even though it only happened the last decade or so. There has been some of the most memorable Hockey matchups between those two.

Scotland/England... at any sport

barca v real madrid is the biggest,that thing goes back to when franco went on a mission to wipe out the catalonian peoples spirit and erradicate the catalan language from the mouths of the very people,because catalonia was the last spanish state left to stand up to franco when he overthrew spain and he took this very personaly this rivalry is the most deep rooted!because of the political history,at one time the only place that the catalan language could be heard was inside camp nou no-one spoke it outside the stadium because it was BANNED!
thats just my opinion.then again i have newcastle v sunderland on my doorstep and they really hate each others guts haha but not like barca v real!!!

There was actually a book written called 'Divided City' that was about a Rangers Fan and a Celtic fan who had to be friends, I cant remember the full story though lol The Old Firm is definetly the biggest sport rivalry in the world!

its just my opinion that the barca v real rivalry has more significance. the actual people it affected was persocuted for not giving up there language and their heritage the only way they could ever stand up to the goverment was ON THE FOOTBALL PITCH!thats a rivalry that has basis,the auld firm is glaswegians(people from glasgow) fighting over religion from ANOTHER country(northern ireland) to me thats just not as important am sorry just my opinion.it is a city divided and its a shame because it really is about another country's religions,not about issues from glasgow or scotland for that matter!look im not wanting this topic to spiral way out ov control here am not trying to wind anybody up because i know how this can because glasgow aint that far from where i am and i now how it can when this is being discussed!i am just stating MY opinion im not saying its right its just MY opinion!

yea... because Northern Ireland is the only country in the world with catholics and protestants  ::)

and also it's not just glaswegians that fight with each other, it's the whole country
