Platoon as a TV series is pretty accurate. If ya like Platoon you'd like this. It's a bit less gritty and buffered some for TV but still good.

Those season box-sets are about 50 bucks each here....it sounds good from what you guys are saying but if I were to go off on your recommendations I would want to make sure that it wasn't all candy-coated for TV, not show the nastiness of it all.

holy frijoles! $50?!?!?
dude, you're shopping at all the wrong places, check out deepdiscountdvd.com, they usually have the best prices on the net...usually.

back on topic,
of course the show is a little candy coated for TV, its a TV series. :p its a vietnam drama with some action mixed in....actually theres always some kind of action scene in every episode. just be aware its not going to be all gory and ultra violent like the war movies/TV shows we see today. theres a fair share of death and mayhem but thats not really the reason why i like the show. it was more to do with the characters and their development throughout the series. i guess in some way its kind of like platoon since you get to see the "other side" of being soldier.
plus its the only show me and my mom used to watch together when i was a kid so theres a personal reason for my liking it as well.

if you really haven't seen and don't want to spend the money, you can always rent it or try to catch a re-run to see if you'd like it.

Mr. Rem- it was on TV so it had more censorsip that an R rated movie. You won't see blood and guts if that's what you mean.
