Hope you like it. It's only the first part. More will come.
:D

Desperate Dude
He could already taste the crimson metallic taste of his own blood. But he would be damned if he was going to show this wimp any weakness.
?That all ya got, you wimp.? He sneered. BAM! The steel toe of Jerry?s boot connected with his midsection. He went on all fours clutching his midsection. He could still breath, painfully, but he could still breath. Good, nothing pierced his lungs. Jackson Smith was only 11 years old but he?d already been in more fights for his life than any adult. Most of those fights were with Jerry; his mom?s piece of crap boyfriend. Jackson looked up, blood trickling from his mouth. Jackson did the one thing he knew would get Jerry?s goat: he smiled.
?Come on, you can do better than that.? He said standing back up. Jerry swung and connected again, followed by a stiff punch to Jackson?s jaw. He crumpled to the floor and laid there staring at the ceiling of his mom?s apartment. He?d had worse from Jerry but it didn?t matter. All that mattered was that Jerry wasn?t hitting his mom. She had met this wimp when he was eight. Jerry was all wine and roses and smiles when he met him, but then Jerry started drinking and stayed drunk, violently drunk for 3 long years. At first, Jerry took his rage out on his mother. Jackson would lie awake at night hearing his mom?s screams, waiting for the cops to come. Knowing, some neighbor would call and report. The chickensh!t neighbor?s never called and the police never came. After a year, Jackson couldn?t take it anymore and stood up to Jerry; that was when Jerry switched from his mother to Jackson. He didn?t care; Jackson got tough quick and took the beatings, just as long as Jerry wasn?t beating his mother. Jackson would fight back as best he could. Jerry was 6? and Jackson was only 5?; not much a boy can do to a full grown man, even if that man was a drunk piece of crap. In the 2 years that Jackson was Jerry?s punching bag, Jackson was only able to claim one victory over this man. Jerry never broke him. Every punch, every beating was only met with defiance and ridicule. That?s what angered Jerry more than anything, he couldn?t crush Jackson wholly. But, he was going to try.
?Had enough Jackson??
?They call me Jax.? He was still staring at the ceiling.
?What?s that, I didn?t hear you.? He walked over to the fridge and opened a beer.
Jax propped himself up onto his elbows. ?I said, they call me Jax.?
?I could care less Jackson. Where?s your mom at??
?I don?t know, isn?t my day to keep up with her.?
?You got a smart mouth you little turd.?
?Yeah and you got a weak punch, you wimp. In an even fight, I could take you.?
Jerry threw his beer can at him, it bounced off his leg. It hurt, but Jax would be damned if he was going to show pain.
?Ah, h@ll that was my last beer. I?m going out.? And with that he was gone. Jax just laid back down on the cool tile.
?Freaking wimp.?

Later that night Jackson was cleaning his wounds. A little iodine, he just dealt with the sting.
?He?ll get his some day.? He thought to himself. His mom was in the main room. She didn?t say anything when she got home, she never did. The phone rang and he heard her pick it up.
?What!? was all he heard her say, then he heard her rush toward the bathroom. The next words out of her mouth was the greatest thing he ever heard anyone say.
?Jerry?s been arrested. He stabbed a guy tonight. What are we going to do. I got to get down to the jail? She went into the other room to change. Jackson sat down on the toilet and had himself the longest, loudest, and most heartfelt laugh he ever had in a long time.

Chapter 2

Post by ajaxman »

Here's Chapter 2, hope you like it.

Chapter 2

Five years had passed since the night Jackson and his mom found out Jerry had been arrested. He got 10 years for assault with a deadly weapon based on his priors. Those five years went fast. They weren?t happy years. Happiness didn?t normally come to the kids growing up in Coney. Kind of ironic, when you think of it. Jackson got older, a little taller and a hell of a lot stronger. He worked out everyday. Pushup, situps, pull-ups. He had his reasons. A week rarely went by when he wasn?t in a fight. Actually, it would more accurate to say a week never went by when he wasn?t pounding some punk ass into the ground. Five years, a lot changes in five years. The time with Jerry had taken his childhood from him. He now looked every bit of the adult he felt. Over a hundred fights, many more than that. He got a rep as a tough guy. The problem with that is there was always someone who wanted to test that rep. Which was why every week he had to pound someone into the ground. Jackson, always thanked Jerry for at least that. After taking that drunk laborers punches the wimps at his school couldn?t even phase him. They?d hit him with every ounce of strength they had. Punches that had leveled guys bigger and meaner looking than Jackson. They?d hit em with that haymaker and then wet themselves when he?d smirk at ?em and unload. He never lost. He was happy, if you can call it that. He was as happy as he ever got. Everybody knew you don?t mess with the man they called Jax.

Then came that Thursday. Five years, half his sentence. Jackson walked in the door and saw him. He felt the smile fade from his face as if it had been smacked off. The man in the room turned around: Jerry. The look in Jerry?s eyes told Jackson everything he needed. Five years hadn?t changed him. The look in his eyes spoke of the beers he had drank, and the fight he was looking forward to.
?Hey, Jackson. Daddies home.?
?You ain?t my dad. You drunk piece of sh*t.?
The directness threw Jerry off, just for a second. Then a smile crept on his face.
?You watch your mouth boy. Or I?ll watch it for you.?
?Those days are over.? Jackson spoke making his way around Jerry and heading to his room. He felt a hand whirl him around and a felt the fist connect before he saw it. Jackson staggered for a second. He caught himself.
?What did you say you little son of a b*tch.?
?I said?, Jackson felt his rage build. He had waited for this for five years, ?Those are over!? His fist connected hard with Jerry?s jaw and Jerry was on the ground. Jackson had learned an important lesson: Once a man was down, you don?t let him back up. He was on top of Jerry now. His punches came one after another. He loved every minute of it. Each punch; a vindication and victory. He spoke as he pounded Jerry?s bloody face harder and harder.
?Two long years!? harder and harder. ?Two Long years you miserable PIECE OF SH*T!!!!? He stopped punching the thing that had been Jerry?s face. Jax stood up and glared down at the wimp that had haunted him for five years.
?Did you think I forgot about you??
The thing on the floor just groaned. Jax kicked Jerry in the stomach with his boot.
?Huh, did you think I forgot?? He kicked him again and reveled in the cry of pain it created.
?You were a good teacher, you f*ggot. I spent every day getting ready for you.? A third kick and Jackson was rewarded with the sound of bones snapping. That?s when he saw the pipe on the table.
?What?s this?? Jackson made his way to the table and picked up the heavy piece of metal. ?You made this too easy you f*cking f*ggot. YOU HEAR ME!!!? A fourth kick to the midsection was followed by another cry of pure agony. Jackson lifted the pipe over his head in readiness.
?Time to send you packing.?
?Jax stop!? the female voice screamed in terror. Jackson stood amazed as his mom bent down toward Jerry and checked on him.
?Baby, you okay?, she looked up at Jax. Her eyes full of hate, ?What did you do? Why??
Jax stared at her in disbelief.
?This punk beats on me for two years. Sends me to the hospital barely breathing for two years and you ask me that. He beat the sh*t out of me for two years. Beatings that were meant for you. I took two years of beatings to protect you and for what. All you care about is this worthless b*stard.? Jackson stormed off into the other room and returned shortly. A bag was under his arm.
?I?m out of here. You want that drunk, violent b*stard you can have him. I ain?t protecting you anymore you b*tch.?
She jumped on top of him. Clawing him, screaming ?You ain?t going no where you miserable b*stard.?
Jackson reached up and threw his mother to the ground. She went to stand and was met by a hard fist to her jaw.
She stared at him with cruel eyes. She spit a crimson mist at him.? I should of killed you when you were in my womb. You?ve been nothing but a curse.?
Jackson just stared at her. ?I hope he kills you, you stupid b*tch.? And with that, the man that had been Jackson Smith was gone.

He stopped at the end of the hall. A door opened next to him and one of his neighbors stuck his head out.
?Another busy night, eh Jax??
Jax just smiled.

Chapter 3 and 4

Post by ajaxman »

Chapter 3

?Hey Jax?, Jax looked up to see the kind old man that spoke his name, ?Help Mr. Turner find the right saw would you.?
?Sure thing Mr. Wright.? Jax had started working for Wright?s Hardware Store about month after he had dealt with Jerry. Jerry; the name still brought a sneer to Jax?s lips, that sorry ass wimp hadn?t even put up much of a fight when he realized Jax wasn?t a kid no more. Still, he had showed that bastard hadn?t he.
?Damn right.?
?What was that?? the skinny man with thick glasses had asked him.
?Nothing, Mr. Turner, just speaking to myself.?
?Oh, so can you help me.?
?I?m sure I can. What do you have in mind??
?Well, there?s this big tree in our yard and the thing has just gotten out of hand, so I was in the market for a saw of some sort.?
Jax had never understood smart people?s need to use long sentences to explain something. He needed a saw to cut down a tree. That was all he needed to say.
?Well sir, I think what you?ll need is this Benford 320. It?s got just the right amount of weight and power for you.? He held up the small chainsaw.
?I?m not sure, what about that thing?? Mr. Turner pointed to the huge saw at the end.
?Well, sir. That?s the Streamline 650. I don?t think that?s what you?re going to want.?
?It looks powerful, enough.?
?Yes sir. However, the weight may be a problem.? Jax was certain the skinny bookworm would barely be able to left the 320, he had no doubt that the 650 would be a saw he would never lift up. He heard the doorbell ring as another new customer came in- several new customers. He saw that they were wearing matching denim vests. He turned back to Mr. Turner.
?The 320 is all you need- sir please don?t try to life the 650.? Too late, Mr. Turner had barely lifted it with both hands when he dropped it on the ground. Jax moved him out of the way and lightly lifted it with his right hand and placed it back onto the display counter. He turned to Mr. Turner.
?Well??
?The 320 will be fine.?
?You don?t pay, then this store burns to the ground, you got me old man!?
Ajax turned to the shouting voices. There were two of ?em. A tall black man with wiry arms. The other was short and stocky. He would be trouble.
?Please, I don?t have much money. If I pay this, I will go bankrupt in a year.?
?You don?t pay it, you?ll go bankrupt- today.? The tall one sneered as he said this.
?There a problem Mr. Wright?? Jax had come up behind them. From there reactions he knew he hadn?t been heard.
?No problem, Jackson. Just a discussion.?
The taller one turned and gave a cocky grin. The small one just stared.
?Yeah, Jackson. Just a little business, so butt out.?
The small one just stared at him. Yep, he was right. The small guy would be the more difficult of the two.
Jax?s eyes narrowed. He stood still. The tall one turned back to the owner.
?We?ll be back old man.? He led the smaller one out the door. They were barely out the door when they heard the door open again.
?Hey!? They turned around and saw the shop boy staring a hole into them.
?What?? The tall one said mockingly.
?They call me Jax.? Jax struck first. He aimed for the one he knew he had to deal with first. The tall one went down with a single punch to the jaw. No need to worry anymore about him. He turned to the stocky fellow.
?Alright, quiet boy. It?s just you and me now.? They circled each other, both taking in each other?s measure. The small fellow swung high. He was strong, but he was slow. Jax saw it coming from a mile. He ducked and two punches to the abs and a knee to the face later it was over. The tall one got up slowly regaining consciousness. He gathered up the small fellow. His eyes were narrow and deadly.
?You gonna pay for this. You hear me. No one strikes a Destroyer and gets away with it.?
Jax just stared at him.
?Anytime you want to fight string bean. I?m right here. But, tell your buddies this. This shop is under 24 hour protection. You got me.? He faked a lunge and laughed himself silly when he saw the tall guy scramble over a garbage can to get away.
?Knew they were wimps.?
He walked back into the shop. The old man wasn?t too pleased.
?What have you done, Jax??
?They won?t bother you anymore.? He said soothingly.
?You don?t know that. These punks, they?ll burn my shop.?
?They ain?t going to do no such thing. GO home it?s closing time. I?ll take care of the money.?
Two hours later and Jax was sitting on his cot in the back room of the store. IT wasn?t bad. A hot plate kept him in warm meals. A small fridge kept him in cold drinks. A radio kept him busy. A small TV kept him entertained. It wasn?t much, but it was home. Jax finished the last bite of the baked ziti Mrs. Wright had made for him. He washed his dish and climbed into bed and dreamed.

Chapter 4

Several hours later Jax was woken by the sound of breaking glass. Shuffling on his blue jeans he made his way to the showroom floor. HE saw them, ten guys in all, wearing denim vests. HE could make out the tall one from this morning. He didn?t see the short one.
?Smash this place up. Show that b*stard he ain?t gonna stiff the Destroyers and punk us out.?
Jax flipped the light switch on. All ten of them stopped in their tracks. He always preferred the direct approach. He stepped out so they could see him.
?Our store hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.? He said smugly. ?However, if there?s anything you need tonight. An a** kicking or whatever, I?ll happily help you find it.?
?Get that son of a b*tch.?
They all rushed toward him. He ducked the first guy and sent him out with a fist to the jaw. The next one came and swung a huge bat. He grabbed the bat in mid-swing and connected a left with the swinger?s abdomen. He backed up and darted down the back aisle. HE waited for 2 seconds.
A stupid Destroyer came charging around the corner and was met with the full force of a bat connecting with his skull. That?s two out, eight to go. Two came at him next. He kicked one in the gut and hit his hunched over form in the face with the bat. The second tackled him. Jax swung him over and smacked the handle end of the bat into his face a few times. The Destroyer got the message and stopped moving.
Jax heard a rush of movement and swung in the direction of the noise. The Bat snapped in half as it connected with the concrete slab of a wall. The Destroyer came after him as he was getting to his feet. Jax tripped and straddled him.
He was enjoying the sensation of beating the man, that he didn?t feel the blade penetrate deep into his side.
At least, at first. Jax slowly stopped punching and fell over to the side. His vision went hazy and the pain in his side continued. There was some movement and he thought he felt something touching him. Then it was silence. No not silence. There was light, red lights flashing- an ambulance.
An ambulance had arrived, it sirens were on. But there was silence. Then Jax thought of something through the cloudiness of his brain. It?s not silent. I just can?t hear the siren.
He saw movement and then a face was before him. He felt something touching him again, he had the sensation of being lifted and then there was blackness. His last thought he remembered was simple two words. F*cking wimps

CHAPTER 5
Chapter 5
Jax awoke in a bed, the sickly smell of antiseptic filled his nostrils. He didn?t need the somewhat sterile surroundings to tell him he was in a hospital, nor did he need that blinding white light that they used to tell him either, it was that smell. He?d been in and out of hospitals ever since he had started taking beatings for his mother. Mother, the very thought of the name left a sour taste in his mouth. For a split second he wondered what she was doing or where she was.
?Probably, lying dead in a ditch.? He spoke without thinking.
?Who?s dead??
He hadn?t realized he had spoken aloud. He finally opened his eyes, lifted his head and looked around. He saw the person who had addressed him, she was short, tiny, blonde, and the hottest thing he had ever seen. She was also his nurse apparently. He stared at her for a second longer than he should have and finally spoke
?Nobody?, he let his fall back onto the pillow, ?nobody that matters.?
?Oh. What happened??
?I got in another man?s business.?
?The cops have been waiting to talk to you. Would you like me-
?Who the hell are you??
?Your nurse.? She said flatly.
?Well nurse, you got a name??
?Karen.?
?Nice. Well, Karen. You mind telling me where I am, how long I been out, and when I can get out of here.?
?Would you keep it down. Everyone else is still sleeping.?
Jax sat up painfully and looked around for the first time. He was in a big room, almost as big as a hallway. On both sides of the room were beds lined in a row. He was in the middle of one of the rows. He was also the only one awake at the moment. Every bed was filled with a sleeping person. They all looked like they were poor. Jax had no idea how someone in a hospital bed could look poor. But everyone in this room, in a bed looked like they didn?t have a dime to their name. Jax smiled, just the kind of room they would stick him in in a hospital with the scumbums, and dirtbags that didn?t have dime one. He laid back down just as painfully.
?Where ever I am, it sure as hell ain?t pretty.?
?You?re in the city ward of the hospital it?s where they put patients who don?t have insurance or coverage.?
He scoured at her ?you mean people who don?t matter right.?
?No I didn?t say that.?
He looked away ?You don?t have to. I know what kind of place I come from and I know what kind of place they put people who come from where I come from. I know where they put the bums. How long I been out.?
?A day.? She said sympathetically, she walked over to him and placed a hand on his cheek, ?and you don?t look like no bum either.?
Jax smiled at her, one of those smiles that girls seemed to like. ?Oh yeah. Well, you look like an angel lady.? He said back placing a hand on her leg and running it up into her skirt. She backed away quickly.
?And I ain?t that easy. See you around Jackson.?  She started pushing her cart toward the exit of the ward.
?It?s Jax.?
She turned around ?What was that??
?I said, they call me Jax. But you can call me anything you like doll.?
She blushed at this and smiled. ?Well, you get better Jackson. And I?ll see what I can do to help you.? With that she turned and left the room. Jax laid back and tried to remember what happened to him that got him here.
?We found two dead. Both with their heads smashed in with this bat.? The detective held up a plastic bag with the broken pieces of the bat he had used. ?Now I want to know what happened??
Jax stared at the two detectives. The one talking was sitting down. He was fat and out of shape. Jax knew he could take him no problem. His partner was the one that worried him. He was slim, but the arms showing through his short sleeve button down was nothing but corded muscle. He was lean, strong, and if his pacing back and forth had anything to say, he was quick. He would be trouble. Of course to hit a cop was something Jax wasn?t prepared to do. He may be crazy but he wasn?t stupid. There?s no way someone would slug a cop in the middle of the headquarters. At least, no one with half a brain and some common sense. Jax was short on both, but he knew he wasn?t in any trouble. At least, no trouble that these two jackasses could put him in.
?What can I tell you, I sleep in the back of the shop. I hear a ruckus, I go out and I see all these guys tearing up the joint. I beat the hell out of more than two I can tell you. The two you found just weren?t able to get away. The next thing I know I?m waking up in a hospital.?
Jax looked around at the small room they were in. It was grey and colorless. A mirror was on one side of the wall. On the wall, it was the wall. He sat at a brown table. Damn cops never around to help. And when they do get there all they do is get in the way. He gets stabbed protecting a place and here he sits in the damn question room talked to like he was the criminal buy these to fucking wimps. He shook his head.
?How many were there.?
?I don?t 8 or 10.?
?Do you know why the Destroyers were wrecking the place.?
?Were they Destroyers??
He told the lie to keep from telling anymore, especially about that morning. The looks on their faces told him they weren?t buying it.
?You know they were destroyers.?
?How do you know were you there??
The fat one pointed a finger at him ?Now look here you little smart ass-
?Hey if you?re going to arrest me, arrest me. Otherwise, I got other thing I have to do.?
The two detectives looked at each other. The fat one sighed and looked at him.
?You can go?, Jax got up the skinny followed him to the door. The fat one spoke, ?But, I?m telling you now. Stay out of trouble. I so much as hear about you in trouble. And I?ll come to get you myself.?
?Whatever you say Mr. Policeman.?
Jax walked out, the skinny one followed close behind. Jax looked over his shoulder.
?Going to give me a kiss and a bye??
?You?re a real smart ass aren?t ya.?
?Yep, and you?re trying real hard to prove you?re a badass.?
?You better check that attitude, punk.?
?Whatever you say, Dirty Harry.?
Jax got onto the elevator and turned around. Oh and tell that fat one in there that he needs to cut back on the crème donuts.? He smirked as the doors closed.
He walked into the sunlight and started making his way back to the store. He left Mr. Wright there and alone the man was a sitting duck. Jax didn?t give a shit what that fat ass with a badge said. He?d killed two Destroyers. This thing wasn?t over with until either he or they were dead. And there was a lot more of them than there was of him. Like that mattered, he would just have to stay focused. Those guys were fucking chicken shit junkies. He could take him. He got too wrapped up in beating the piss out of that one guy. He lost his focus. ?I have got to work on that.?
?Work on what??
He turned and saw Karen. ?I got to stop thinking out loud. What the hell you doing here??
?I came to see how you are you doof.?
?Well, as you can see I?m fine.? He turned to walk away.
?Hey, where you going??
?Away from you.?
?Why??
?Because the guys who put me in the hospital won?t stop until I?m in the morgue. And they?ll hurt anyone I know to get me there. You dig??
?I dig, well. If they haven?t killed you when it?s over, give me a call. Here?s my number.? She handed him a piece of paper and smiled at him. ?Stay safe.?
?Stay sexy.? He grinned and walked down the street. He had to hurry. A gang of Destroyers and only one him, he smiled. They were in trouble.
?Bunch of chicken shits.?
