The Gramercy Harlots - Part 6

Post by KissTheRain »

Big thank you to my (7 or 8) fans  Hope you're enjoying it so far! Here's part 6!

------------

It was still raining. Four hours since she ran for it and it was still raining. She was cold, wet, hungry and lost. All she could imagine doing was going back home and drying off and going to her nice warm bed. She wasn't worried about the gang, Melody may have been young but she was a good second in command and she'd be taking good care of things. The problem was that she didn't know where home was anymore. She was well and truly lost. She was now sitting on a bench, freezing and dripping wet, waiting for someone to hopefully come and find her.

-------------------

He was marching down to Union Square with a kind of anger he'd never felt before, Mercy struggling to keep up with his long strides. The arrived at the door of the old apparment next to the pizza place where the Lizzies hung out. With one hard tackle he had the front door burst open and the two strode into the hang out.
"What the hell do you two want!?" Harley spat. Her nose had turned a horiible shade of bright purple and blue across the bridge and it was looking rather flat.
"I'm here to find out why you did what you did!" Vermin hissed moving towards her with Mercy at his side. The other girls kept their distance from the two, knowing that they didn't want to get in the way of the situation.
"Why I did what I did? How about why the hell your Girlfriend shattered my nose!" She said, spitting on the ground infront of them. Mercy suddenly walked forward and grabbed Harley by her shirt collar.
"You want two black eyes to go with it?" Harley shook her head timidly "Then you better start talking!" Mercy dropped the small Lizzie to the floor and her and Vermin towered over her.
"Alright, i'll talk....Masai paid me to get in your face tonight" she said. Vermin's jaw set in anger and he raised an eyebrow.
"Why?" Harley let out a laugh.
"Geez isn't it obvious! Whats the one thing you have that he wants the most?" She said. Vermin sighed. He should have known that this would be about Robin. "From what I hear...you don't have her anymore" She quipped. Mercy once again picked Harley up by the collar, waiting for Vermin to let her smack the Lizzie across the face.
"Well...you better hope I get her back in one piece...because if there is a scratch on her body i'm coming right back here with the rest of the Harlots to finish you and the Lizzies for good. Do you really think your 20 could take on over 70? I don't think so" He whispered to her. Harley just nodded in response before Mercy dropped her to the floor.

----------------------

She was warm. She was dry. It was finally quiet and she was lying in bed with her head on his warm chest, the rise and fall making her relaxed. Everything that had happened had been forgotten. She could hear her name being softly spoken but it sounded different, like it wasn't there with her. It was far away and didn't belong to the man she was lying with.

Suddenly it was cold again. It was wet again. She was lying on the bench she had sat on and had fallen asleep out of sheer exhaustion. Standing over her was a man in an orange Gi. He was saying her name amoung other things but she was so tired and cold she couldn't make it out. She couldn't even summon the strength to sit up and look at the man but she felt his arms around her. He was picking her up and carrying her somewhere. That was the last thing she remembered before blacking out completely.

When she next woke she found herself in a strange room. The walls were painted a dark red colour and all the mouldings were bright white. She was in a four poster bed that was made of dark brown wood and the top sheet was a dark red velvet. There was a a row of book shelves on the left wall and a desk on the right wall. For a moment she thought she might have been in a hotel but that thought soon left her when a familiar face came through and closed the door behind him.
"Ah, you're awake I see. How are you feeling?" He asked. Robin pushed herself up with her hands. She suddenly noticed that she was out of her wet clothes and in her own sleeping clothes. "I got some of your girls to bring you some clothes and they helped get you changed and fixed up. We thought it best that you stayed here till you felt better" he said quietly. Robin just nodded. Her head still felt foggy and all her joints seemed to hurt.
"Wha..what happened to me?" She asked, her throat was sore and her voice was thick from sleep.
"You got yourself lost out in the rain and I had to come and find you. You gave us all quite a scare" He said. Robin just nodded, trying to process the information. She was sure there was another reason but she was too tired to fight it.
"Why is my hand sore?" She asked. Masai sighed.
"I'm afraid you caught you're boyfriend cheating on you at my party with one of the Lizzies. You broke her nose before running away" He said. Robin took in a deep breath. She could remember moment of the party, the pain in her hand was reminding her of the punch she landed on Harleys face. Suddenly Masai leaned forward and grabbed her good hand.
"What that Warrior did to you is horrible and I know it must hurt terribly. It's proof that there is no room for love in our world" He said. Robin felt sick when he mentioned Vermins name. Maybe Masai was right. Maybe you couldn't afford to have a relationship like that when you came from the streets.
"I'm not looking for you to fall in love with me. All I want is for us to have a connection, a partnership that would unite the streets" He said. He was now clinging onto her hand with a strange kind of desperation that made Robin feel sorry for the Riffs leader.
"What are you saying?" she asked. He took off his sunglasses and for the first time Robin could see how he really felt. There was no lies anyway on his face. He really wanted this.
"I'm saying...will you marry me?" Robin felt as though she was going to be sick. Marry? A partnership for convenience was one thing but marriage?
"Ma..Marriage?!"
"In a fashion, a commitment ceremony of such"
She thought of her gang. She thought of the Riffs and she thought of everything that would be better if she went thought with it. They shared turf so it made sense. All the earnings from both gang would go together and make a significant ammount of money. In a way it just made sense. She didn't love him but if there was one thing she had learned from recent events it was that there was no room for love in their world.
"Okay"

---------------------

"Good news boppers. The Harlots leader has been found safe and sound. She gave quite a scare by being found passed out but is now recovering with the help of the Riffs. From this comes some more happy news. Masai and Robin Andrews are to have a commitment ceremony in 2 days time in Gramercy Park. All gangs on the Riff's network are invited to send 4 representatives"

"WHAT THE FUCK!?" Vermin shouted at the radio. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. Masai had managed to brainwash her in the space of 12 hours and now they were getting fake married.
"Vermin, calm down!" Mercy said, watching the Warrior pace back and forth from her spot sitting on the table with her feet resting on a chair, his hands raking through his hair in frustration.
"How can I be calm!? Shes going to marry him and I know for a fact she doesn't love him!" Mercy smiled.
"Oh yeah and how do you know that?"
"Because she loves me! You don't stop loving someone in the space of 12 fucking hours!" He exclaimed. Swan walked up beside Mercy and put his arm around her shoulders and kissed her on the cheek.
"How is he?" He asked quietly. She looked up at him.
"Well how do you think? How would you feel if it were me and you?" she said. Swan made a face like he was thinking and Mercy frowned and lightly puched him on the shoulder. "Oh thanks! Good to know I mean so much to you"
"You know i'm messing with you" Swan said, kissing her on the cheek again. Vermin was still pacing and had now taken to muttering to himself.
"This can't be good for him" Swan said. Mercy suddenly stood up and walked towards Vermin, holding him by the shoulders and looking him in the eye.
"You need to calm down! Rembrant will be back with Melody any minute and you'll be able to get more information from her, yeah?" She said. He nodded and she nodded with him before directing him towards a chair and letting him sit down.

When the door to the Warriors hang out opened and Melody and Rembrant showed, Vermin was out of his seat like a shot and heading straight towards Melody.
"What do you know!?" He asked frantically, holding onto her shoulders. The small blonde froze and Rembrant stepped forward, remoing Vermins hands.
"Hey calm down man, give us time to get in!" He said. Vermin nodded and the small group sat down on the beaten up sofas.
"Vermin I spoke to Robin. She thinks that you actually cheated on her. She blacked out that night when she went missing and she doesn't remember and Masai obviously isn't telling her the truth! I tried to tell her but she won't listen to me, She's only doing this stupid thing cause she thinks theres no other option" Melody said, wiping away stray tears that were running down her cheeks. Vermin sighed.
"Does she love him?" He asked. Melody's jaw almost dropped.
"Are you stupid? No! She loves you!" Vermin grinned.
"Well then thats it then! I've got a wedding to stop!" He exclaimed jumping to his feet. The rest of the group stood up too.
"Whoa! Are you even comprehending what you're thinking of doing?! Masai is the head of the Riffs, the biggest gang in the city. He'll come down on us hard!" Rembrant exclaimed. Swan nodded.
"Rembrant is right, as a Warrior, I can't let you do this" Swan said. Vermin sighed in frustration.
"But Swan..."
"No, listen to me. AS A WARRIOR I can't let you do this...so I therefore strip you of your colours. It'll be waiting for you when you get back" he said with a smile. Vermin grinned and took his vest off, handing it to Swan. He had to admit, he felt a little strange without it, even though he had on a black tshirt he still felt naked without it.
"Look after it, i've...well i've gotten pretty attached to it" He said.  Mercy smiled, her chest swelling with pride at her boyfriends actions.
"So what are you going to do?" She asked Vermin, who shrugged.
"I don't know...i've never done anything like this before!"
There was suddenly a loud crack as the door swung open and smacked against the wall, small peices of plaster falling from the old brick. There was a sillouette of a large man standing in the door and when he stepped forward they could see what the man looked like. He was tall and well built, wearing stone wash jeans, a white tshirt and a demin and leather vest. He had long grey hair that was pulled into a pony tail and a handle bar mustache to match.
"Which one of you is Vermin?"
