I saw this movie today great movie one of the best gangster movies i have ever seen based on a true story i loved the film great movie.

Yeah, when a "based on a true story movie" is well made... no doubt, it's a little masterpiece!!!
... and "American Gangster" IS!!!
I saw it 2 days ago, and I'll add it to my personal "Gangster and inc. " Movie Collection!!! 4 Sure!!! 8)

Funny you mention "Gangster" Because Universal Home Video has sent over artwork for Gangsters:
The Ultimate Film Collection which includes American Gangster, Scarface, Casino, and Carlito's Way. The 9-disc collection has yet to be officially announced, although we believe it will be released to coincide with American Gangster's release on the 19th February.

Oh , I didn't know about that collection!!!
Even if I think "American Gangster" just deserves to be in a Gangster Movie Collection, mine ... not famous, or another (U.H.V. Gangsters - The Ultimate Film Collection) more famous!!!

On a more serious note, just found out it on google... and yeah, I read that article... know what, I agree they should have also included "Goodfellas" and "The Departed"!!!
