wigan warrior, almost agree with you.  But, right franchise, wrong character.  Gotta go with Darth Vader on this one.

Gotta go with Dean on this one, Han Solo just oozes cool, all of the time.

Other noteable "cool" characters I feel are:

Sgt Elias - Platoon: Willem Dafoe plays that part exceptionally well, the image of his death is pretty iconic aswell.
James Carter - Rush Hour: Chris Tucker is a genius in this. "Wipe Yourself off... You're bleeding"... "Wipe yourself off man... You dead"
Jason Bourne - The Bourne Identity/Supremacy/Ultimatum: Great films (Obvioulsy haven't seen Ultimatum yet) and it's the character of Bourne that makes them great, always one step ahead of his pursuers.

Kind of random selections, I know, but all of the other people I could think of right now have been mentioned already.

3. Rory Breaker from Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels, every line he says is the essance of cool, and dressing in all leather, short with a large afro dosen't look to bad either

2. Big Chris and Bullet Tooth Tony (bolth played by Vinnie Jones, basicly the same character) from Lock Stock and Snatch. Great characters, love the way they bolth smash people's heads in car doors

1. Jules Winfield from Pulp Fiction. The look with that suit, white sneakers and a jeri curl afro looks awsome. He even looks cool in those 'vollyball' T-shirt and shorts. Every single line that he says is so damn cool. Too hard to just pick one.

Seriously, Seth was one of the biggest badasses in movie history. The revolver, the tattoo, the attitude, the jackhammer, he was just WAY too damn cool. The only badass role Clooney ever played, IMHO.
