did anyone belive the hype that came with this film when it first premiered at cinemas.priests standing outside cinemas begging people not to go inside and see the film.

does anyone know any info on this?

man to this day its the only horror movie that still scares me too watch,the possessed linda blair was awsomly acted its chilling,lol at the priests out the front thats a new one ......i wanna watch that possession of emily rose you seen that yet?

I dunno about the priests thing but I do know people walked out of the theatre same with the original texas chainsaw massacre

I wasnt old enough when the Exorcist first came out. I did see the revised edition when they put it in theaters a few years ago. There were actually church groups outside the theater praying for all of us who were going to see the movie.

My favorite scene of the Exorcist is when Father Karras suggests "If you're the devil, why don't you just undo the straps yourself?" And the demon replies, "That would be much too vulgar a display of power." Very cool dialogue.
