I voted for the present, but I'd be ok with the 80's too. Idealy, I wish it would take place in the 70's like the original, but everyone connected with this remake said that wasn't gonna happen right from the start.

The guy who posts on here with the script says it takes place in the future. A mad max type apocaliptic future would totally turn me off. As it is I'm a little leary about the future that was described in this script about "guns being outlawed because of the high crime rate". I really hope this was just a first draft or something and they try to be a little more faithfull to the original.

I guess it would be ok if was set in the present because i dont think there will be any chance it will be set in 1979, plus you don't want to be too much like the original because then you'll know everything that happens and it wouldn't be new to us. Being set in the present day is the next best thing to it being set in the 70's because anything else will really suck.

Tony Scott said that the remake was going to be about the youth of today and the music of today.
and that the story remains the same--you are on the wrong side of town, and you have to get back home.
He wants to put a new spin on what was a great film.

I voted for the original because having the remake set in the future would take away from the story. No gangs fight hand to hand nowadays and having gangs cap each other takes away from the story too much. If they want to make a movie about gangs of today make a Grand Theft Auto game into a movie.

Personally I can't see the point of a remake in anything other than present day. It needs to offer something different, in a modern context. I fear for this movie. It could be great, and give us Warriors fan's much much more mileage, even be a cult classic itself, but not if it just aims to recreate the past or copies mad max etc.

I think the 70's would be good, but like most of you guys said, a modern version of the warriors would show something new. Dawn of the dead is a perfect example, the remake of that movie exceeded my expectations.

After I recently showed the warriors to my friends, the first thing they would always comment on when it was over was how ridiculous the furies looked. Even before I found out that there is going to be a remake, my friends and I would talk about how there should be one.

I would say the eighties. Its not to far and not to past its perfect.

I voted future, just because of the extra opportunity to shock the audience.

That doesn't mean I want somthing like Terminator or Total Recall, though, because that stuff's just crazy.

ya but if it was in the future ther would have to be some sort of futeristic object or thing and that would ruin the whole concept in whitch i like. good old fashion fighting

I voted for the same time the original was made, I think if it was made in a later time it would ruin the whole concept of the warriors running away. I mean if it was made in the future, the Warriors could just Fly there way back to coney in a flying car, haha.

ya i agree the only time line that would fit would be late 70s or earlie 80s because if it was too early then that ruins it cause you cant relate to the times and if its present kids wil wanna see like the matrix or like theyl cast jet li as like swan. and if its in the future all the bst moments we chariche will be dead liek the subway, nobody is gonna be in a subway in the future
