i may be wrong but i thought i read somewhere that he might have something to do with the writing

On his IMDB profile he's credited with the screenplay. They might be rewriting his original - but then the other guy (who he cowrote with) would have to get credit too, so I think there is a fair chance he is helping on the new one.
