I can't see why they would want to remake this as a karate movie. The things that this movie has going for it are the opposite of karate movies, if anything:
1) the fighters not technically flashy, the fight scenes look more like street brawls
2) you get a sense that the punchs in this film really hurt -- no invulnerable karate masters here

Don't Take It To The Bank Just Yet
I know that there has been discussions about it being made into a Karate movie (dumb idea), but until they start filming things change. Also, this movie remake has been rumored for over two years and they don't even have a script yet. I think a 2006 release date is unlikely.
P.S. If the producers do make this move into a mockery of the original then I hope that they never make a film again and that there genitals fall off from disease

They out to get their young apprentices who work for the production company to go and "feel" out fans responses and they'll no to pack up their crap and ruin someone elses film.
Can't we just leave certain films alone.

My answer to that is go to the damn DVD store, rent it, and see what a true gritty gang film is all about. ITS THEIR!!! Rent it. Dont dessimate the original.
