the figures are meant be in a sort of clamshell package.what are they?

I'm no expert but, i'm pretty sure it's the normal plastic what most figures come in.

Dont know, it prolly has something to do with being able to take out the figure without damaging the package

I believe it is two plastic "shells" which clip together. Basically resealable packaging.
