San Diego Comic Con officially started today, and coverage of the event is currently all over the toy collecting sites. As far as The Warriors, nothing shown that we haven't already seen from Mezco, except a look at the new packaging.

Reminds me a lot of the sideshow packaging, which is a good thing as the figures can be put back in the box without damaging it.  You can just make out the warriors colors on the bottom photo.  Looks like the snake and flames to me. :(

Unfortunately, I don't think we will ever see the return of the skull and wings on officially licensed products. This is not Mezco's fault, or even Paramount's, but the Hell's Angels, who own the rights for the skull and wings image. It sucks, I know, but something we are all going to have to come to grasps with.

I was thinking though, you know, they DO make fabric "paper" for printers, and there are some good patch images out there. It shouldn't be hard to custom make some little patches for your figures. ;)

Well, at this point, it looks like the release date will be pushed back a bit. I will of course let everyone know as soon as I hear anything solid.

My card has been charged, but I have yet to receive my order, or a ship notice.

 Your link points to an article on the upcoming comic book, which sounds like is going to rock!

The warriors look a little constipated, except ajax who looks relieved

I tried researching the hells angels deaths head.  Didnt come up with much.  They made some sort of copyright ammendment back in 94, but as far as I can tell, they only own copyright for the side facing winged skull which is on their colors.  Anything else is fair game.

Well Mondotees told me the reason they no longer sell the vests is because of the Hell's Angels. I tend to believe him, but now that I think about it, Paramount DID have the skull and wings pictured on the special edition directors cut DVD release. So, I see it as one of the following...

A) Paramount paid the Hell's Angels for the rights to use the image on their packaging, or altered it and the colors enough to squeeze by the copyright.

B) Paramount doesn't want companies that make products aimed at kids, IE video games, action figures, etc. to use an image that is so close to the Hell's Angels whom have a negative image to most.

Another weird thing is, they changed both the skull AND wings, instead of just one or the other. Hard to say where the truth really lies I guess, and there are so many ways rights and contracts can work, it could be a number of things, but it makes no sense that they would change it unless they had a good reason. I know Mezco wouldn't change it, unless forced to.

To me, the Warriors patch does not seem that similar that it doesn't pass copyright. I mean, the most similar thing IMO is the actual writing which says 'Hell's Angels,'.

This is the actual Hell's Angels logo:

And this is The Warriors logo:

Also IMO, I actually prefer the snake and flames. I know that the winged skull is the original, but the snake and flames just looks cooler to me.

Back to topic, the new packaging does look good. It it one of those where you open the front and there lies your figure under see-through plastic? If ya' know the type I mean.
