...man that chicks' gots some mouth....
Everytime I watch this scene it makes me laugh. It amazes me how women who talked like Mercy back in the day were considered "low" or "street". Can you imagine the Warriors meeting the "street" girls from today? They would really freak out!

Yeah interesting point. Times sure do change. I think thats why we find the warriors so interesting, you know, so we can compare how society has changed as a who. Women have come a long way, to the point where men and womens ideals have emerged into one. Now a days, a man will not think twice if a woman defends, or gets angry towards something(Well most of them anyway). I took a trip to Egypt one time, because some of my family is from there, and even religious women there defend themselves sometimes if a man gets pushy or lippy. Like for instance, her and another man almost collided cars, and she yelled at him. And she also refused to give a taxi driver more money, and nothing happened to her. SO my main point is that society of women sure is changing at an increasing rate. Very good point.

Yup, times sure have change. I mean the chicks from Girls Gone Wild or the VH1 specials they do on girls, make Mercy look like Mother Teresa!

Yes girls today have changed. My 3rd grade teacher and my freshman seminar teacher in High school both have new york accent.
Yeah girls now are more about being tough as boys. They do talk alot of garbage.

other than Mercy being a mouthful...if she were today's woman I think she would've been IN the fight against the Punks rather than stand to one side with Rembrandt...but this only includes women who aren't worried that if they break a nail its the end of the world for them!

Class of 1984 is a great film that illustrates this change as the girls start to become as mouthy and hard as the guys.
Also, I recommend "This is England" which was set in 1983. I was chatting today with a colleague about this film and how it shows that the 80's was probably the period of biggest change in modern society. It's a really good film by the way, even though it is a bit depressing.

In a way it's similar to The Warriors as it's close to that time and is about a gang of youths. It's much more about the relationships between them and other gangs, and other races of people.
