Ajax shows no remorse
Ajax shows no remorse
I like Ajax, but one of the scenes that really makes me sad I guess, is when he says: "Right about now Cleon has a stick shoved up his butt" or something like that. I can't believe he has no sympathy for someone in his own gang. If he hated or dislike Swan or Cleon, why didn't he just stayed behind or go on his own.

Yeah I agree with you here.. That scene always made me cringe abit. I always got the impession he was a one man team. He didn't care about the rest as long as he made it back. It seems like he doesn't care if his friend is dead or arrested. None of the Warriors saw what happend to Cleon. So it seems like he's jumping to conclusions just so he can sneek his way into Cleons old position. Thats the way I always saw it anyway.

Re: Ajax shows no remorse
It seems to me that Ajax thinks that Cleon got arrested, like he's trying to say with that comment:"I told you so,don't go to that stupid meeting, cos something wrong's gonna happen".He was probably always treated as a 'lower class' by Cleon,so with this comment he's trying to show he was right,he knew better than Cleon.

Re: Ajax shows no remorse
I have to say that though Ajax was a pretty cool chracter in the fact that he was basically only useful for fighting and showed his prowess against the Furies, but that side of a personality just doesnt belong in a gang. It seems that all he wanted to do through out the movie was make other people bleed and try and "get some" before they got back home.
But then again we cant expect a hardened brawler to be all lovey dovey and not have a harsh, arrogant demeanor.

Thats a good point Cyrus. Perhaps, it might have been more of a "I told you so" sort of thing. You see, there a difference between disliking somebody, and respecting them. Maybe he wasn't to fond of anyone, but regardless, "Respect" was there. For all we know, he was out for "number one" only, and thought that if he showed any sign of respect for another, even if he did, he would look like a wimp. So all in all, maybe theres an aspect of Cleon, he did admire, but when it comes down to it, he probably thought, "well theres nothing I can do, why waste my life".
And on the subject, I never liked when Cochise, said "I seen him, but than he was there no more, I was hauling a*s". So for all we know, maybe they all did have some sort of admiration for Cleon, but all realized that if there nothing you can do about it, just stick with whats in front of you. I suppose it the mentality of a soldier. Like when Snow and Cowboy, realized theres was nothing they could do for Ajax. Instead of crying, they all see what they can salvage, out of the journey or mission. Its harsh, but thats the gang mindset.

Re: Ajax shows no remorse
with ajax being the "big tough guy" maybe thats why he was like he was, he felt the other people would look at him as soft if he showed care for the rest of the gang so he just wanted to act tough all the time and not be bothered, maybe deep down he did care,if you look at the scene where they run from the conclave he lets the others get through he drags them through when they smash them wood in to get out, and running away from the orphans i pulls fox and mercy in front of him. hes quite a character

I agree, Ajax was a macho a-hole and seemed to have a problem with authority. But hey that's why I like the character.Scurvy Dog wrote: As much as I don't think Ajax cared about... well, anybody, I didn't see it so much as a lack of concern for Cleon as he was being cyncial - he seemed to figure since Cleon wasn't with him, he had most likely been busted and there was nothing they could do about it - so there was no point in worrying about it.
