The road of fire!!!

Post by saner »

alrighty people! it's time for all of you to learn something insane!

...

You are all lucky!

...

Ya know why? Can guess what really makes you people so darn lucky and blessed? Ya'll have watched the movie! lololol!

while I..... I'm waiting for the frickin DVD to arrive over here. lol!
Since this place is about The Warriors, and you guys know everything about it as if it were your very soul, here's a topic about something you may not hear very often, or in personal unique detail. I suppose everyone likes to hear a story, although the theme has been heard of countless times, each experience is different. kinda like learning how to ride a bike. imagine the countless different cases different people go through in that subject. haha. yeah yeah that example is dumb and not worth reading. sorry about those precious 5 seconds. lol.

ya know we aren't born knowing things we know now. I never used Amazon and I figured it was like ebay. just go in there, search the title, and choose from a list of sellers. So I find one that is said to be new and costs like 10 bucks. so I choose that and pay extra for faster delivery. This occured Wednesday night. Why oh why didn't I order it Monday. and why oh why didn't I ask my sister about Amazon. lol. anyways, I was using a relative's account, so they got the confirmation email. they told me its on its way. 2 days pass. I decide to read what the email says and it says the seller agrees to ship it on FRIDAY!

Now unless they're using Fed Ex or something, this DVD ain';t coming until next week!!! and on a business day!!! that the heck!? I just paid extra to get in in no more than 2 days!!! I should of already had it Friday!!!! aaaaaaaargh! well I emailed the seller last night and no response just yet. Maybe I should keep sending emails about when they shipped it, when they think it's coming ,etc. etc. until they answer. dam itttt!!! lol!

I'm also interested in ordering the DVD from Amazon directly, with first class shipping and all, but even if I were to do that now, I still would have to wait till at least Monday to get it!! 2 more painful days of waiting.

well I'm glad I read and seen as little of the movie as possible. welll..... okay I basically know what happens, but ANYWAYS it's still a huge difference knowing some of it and watching it. hee hee. besides I can just pretend I dont know anything when I finally watch it.

yep. to not yet see The Warriors for the first time, and all of you have already seen it. you might recall when you first watched it, but the fun thing is that each person has their own universe of a reaction to it, so it's cool how each feels about the movie.

it's kinda of ironic it looks like I'm gonna watch the movie during the year the game based on the movie is coming out. Yeah I love brawler beat em up games like Double Dragon, Streets of Rage 2, etc. etc. I even turned Smackdown vs. Raw into my own beat 'em ups sagas using character creation and having 3 vs. 3 tornado tag team matches!

yeah I think one element that makes The Warriors interesting to me is that it has that brawler look to it, it more than likely the origin of what inspired developers to make games that look and play out quite similiar to it.
I mean I believe The Warriors is the reason Double Dragon and the brawler games that followed are what really made the videogame much cooler with it's stylized heroes, gangs, enviornments and battles. of course, the 2 player co-op from most of those games are thanks to one of the themes the movie seems to express, which is unity and teamwork.

from the looks of things, The Warriors looks to be a gang survival battle adventure movie that cannot be topped by any other gang movie I've seen, those movies feeling nothing of an adventure and more of...I dunno something boring and unlike The Warriors. =)

ya see that's what makes me believe the way and how the story is told is what determines if a movie becomes a legend. like those adrenaline one time moments you don't see again or quite the same. Yeah call me cheesy but I liked The Goonies. That was a fun movie. But yeah I'm a huge fan of brawls, especially real street fights and not martial arts or wire computer fu. yeah martial arts discipline is cool but those type of fights usually appear like a dance that was planned rather than looking like they really are trying to bash their skulls in.

another thing that I find ominous about The Warriors is that it really doesn't center on one character 100%. it's a whole group and unity thing. and that's 100 times cooler than a one or two man army. while I'm not a fan of urban/modern scenarios, The Warriors is an exception cause while it has the 70's look, it seems to have a timeless otherworldly look to it, plus like Double Dragon, the whole gangs + brawls theme fits perfectly in an urban enviornment like New York. plus trains are pretty cool. I dunno it's hard to describe the things I find cool.

but another thing is great is the time the movie was made. Back then there wasn't as many laws or restrictions that has caused many movies these days to hold back and feel less real. I mean The Warriors looks like something more than a movie. Like it's actually happening!!! yeah I think the magic of movies was lost sometime around the 90s.
but The Warriors looks to preserve the beauty of great filmmaking.

despite everything the people involved went through, and the decisions and results that caused the movie to be what you see today, I think it's quite magical that it's ended up the way you know it. cause otherwise if somethings were allowed, like for example, like Walter Hill's idea of making The Warriors an all _____ gang of whatever race her suggested, the aura of the movie would be very different and not as many would find it as welcoming.
I also think the decision the actor who played Fox, actually made the movie BETTER than if Fox had lived. so all of these coincedences and events really shaped The Warriors into what it is today, which is to say invisible forces had their hand in The Warriors' creation. It's quite extraordinary how lucky the movie is to turn out so well and attract so many fans.

This also happened to another movie I love, Predator, where many things not even the people involved were aware of, helped make the movie as cool as it is now.

welp. hopefully that DVD arrives on Monday, cause if not I'm ordering another copy too, and making sure I can get next day delivery.

I liked the Goonies too!! STill watch the reruns when it comes on. LOL

I use Amazon and Ebay--and in both places you have to read the fine print with the shipping--as many sellers have set days of the week they ship on---and sometimes it depends on WHERE they are in relation to WHERE you are for that extra mailing cost to be worth it.
IF they live by a big city with airmail--fine--If you do better--but sometimes-someone is too far away-airmail doesn't guarantee service any faster than 1st class regular postage.
And the fed Ex guys and ups guys are nice, but I haven't really noticed any major speed with them either.
My postmaster always says that we can pay for 2nd day delivery--but figure 3 or 4-cause we aren't close to an airport-and it only makes so many miles a day regardless. I have found that insurance, or package tracking is more effective--at least then I know I will get it--even if delivery takes a few days more.

Sorry you have to wait--but all of us end up doing just that sooner or later for something. I am waiting for the Director's cut dvd to come out!!
When I find a site, I am going to preorder it--just to make sure.

Yeah, I really love that seen of them strolling down the boardwalk, only it needed better music than that surfer guitar riff, it just didn't fit.

I love how the surf music makes that scene pretty hilarious yet cool at the sametime. :D
