Cyrus was ambitious

Post by emissary »

When Cyrus mentions "taxing the crime syndicates" is he talking about organized crime?  I always knew that line but never considered he was talking about taking on the mafia.

Not just the mafia, but the Triads, yakuza and any other criminal gang you can think of.  Its a case of extort the extortioners.  Cyrus saw how much money they made but wanted no part in joining these organisations. He spent many years making the riffs into the biggest and most feared gang in the city and didnt want others making money on "his streets" without him getting any of it.  I imagine he would have wanted to be some sort of kingpin, ruling the underworld and having others seek his permission to operate on his turf.  Why settle for a small slice when you can have the whole pie.  What operation could compete with 60.000 soldiers?  In the book, all the gang leaders had to bring him a gun as a "token".  From that we can assume he wanted all his soldiers armed to take over the city.  "Its all out there...."

Yeah, I always took that to mean that he wanted to tax the mafia and triads for using their turf.  Easier said than done, of course.  I don't think the Italian and Russian mobs and Chinese triads would take too kindly to a bunch of kids telling them what to do.

I always thought this was yet another flaw in Cyrus' ambitious plan.

Thats a great theory Ninth Delegate.  I mean Cyrus was a man among men.  In his eyes, there is no longer gangs, syndicates, or any other groups.  There was now "supossedly" only an army.  An army of men who now go beyond social groups, but an army of every walk of life imaginable, and with this it would be unstoppable.  So being that Syndicates are basically big crime organizations from different nationalities, Cyrus knew that with our minds, and unique capabilities combined, we can go even beyond these huge organization, and become a force beyond any form of power that the world has ever laid apon in its entire existence.  We are an essence that goes beyond the different colors of our skin, and reasons for being here.  We are now an entity that is nameless, and unevidable perfect.  Therefore, crime syndicates are just pennies.  Its time for the world to give birth to a New World Order beyond any form of power.

I like that line as well i really want to read the warriors book from sol yurick.I have every warriors thing except for the book.I think the book has way more story in it because they always cut stuff out of the movie. And there are probably more gangs in the book but the book is to rare to find so i probably wont find the book because it is a such a old book.I have pretty much looked every where for it i have got the movie and the game but not the book it is really annoying. :x
