Furies.....Overrated?

Furies lovers can hate on me, but I'm just pointing something out. This goes for both game and movie. The Furies are one of the heaviest gangs right? Probably in the top ranks along with the Riffs, and the Satan Mothers. I think the Furies are all right. They did display why they are one of the heaviest. They can sprint for long periods of time just like a baseball player when trying to catch a ball or get to base. They have the ghoulish makeup :|. They carry bats which IMO is a good old school weapon thats powerful. But despite being all powerful, they got beat by The Warriors. Even when the Furies had them outnumbered! I wonder?

I always thought they were. But I don't know how highly they were rated. Did anyone see them at the conclave? Becuase I didn't, but maybe they were there and I just missed them. I think they're wimps becuase they got beat while being out-numbered. And the reason The Warriors beat them was because its a movie. If it would have been real-life, then The Furies probably would have won. The Warriors won because they were the heros in the movie. If the movie would have been The Baseball Furies, then they would have won.

I don't ever remember the Furies being compared to the Riffs, Satan's Mothers or any other gang, either in the movie or the video game, so I'm not sure what your angle is.  As far as I know, you're the only one making these comparisons.  What is it exactly that's overrated about them?

I think he means when Swan / Ajax / Snow / Cowboy wrecked the Furies in the Park when they were outnumbered
and how they Furies are susposed to be all tough and strong with there baseball bats maybe that.

PS i still think Furies are cool

I think I understand what you are saying.  If you want to know my opinion, I guess you could say that I am nuetral.  When I first saw The Warriors, I always pictured the warriors as me, or should I say us fans.  They were the average guys trapped in an insane world filled with freaks trying to take control.  Yes, all the gangs did leave an impact on me, but it was all about the warriors.  All the other gangs, were the enemies, and evil doers trying to put the warriors down.  Therefore I did not favor them, or other gangs for that matter.  As far as I was concerned it was The Warriors, and than there was the rest of the world. So like I said, I did not have favorites to begin with, because I think us fans represent the everyday people of the warrior.  Hence why they were multi cultured.

What I was saying was: They won because of the storyline, but think outside of the box for a second. The Furies are tough, I'll give ya that. But since there weren't that many and Swan, Ajax, and Snow were able to beat them meant that they were able to. Not because they were supposed to, they were able. Now if your gang uses baseball bats as primary weapons and you get beaten by another gang with their fists and stolen weapons? You ain't so tough.

About The Furies geting beat by the Warriors when they out numbered them, you have to remember what the movie is called. I mentioned in another post that the movie was called The Warriors. Even if The Furies where the best gang in the city, they wouldn't stand a chance aginst The Warriors. I think that if the movie was called The Furies, they would have won with no problem at all.

If you think in that way, we may always remember - the movies about The Warriors and they're the hardest gang hah, and The Furies is just some gang on the way ;)

The Furies are a gang that is sort of style over substance, yes they are without a doubt the coolest and most memorable gang in the movie, but that's why they're so highly rated, looks, not skills.

What i don't understand is how everyone assumes that they're a really heavy set. the Dj says "the furies dropped the ball" which sounds as if she's making fun of them, and most people don't make fun of heavy sets!

they probably were a bit heavy as the warriors seemed very scared when they met them but they still beat the crap out of em anyway. I say that they are a little overrated and not as heavy as everyone says.

Actually Swan23, if you read my post again, I am agreeing with you.  I actually don't make a big deal on the furies either.  I believe that Walter Hill wanted us to dislike them. Thats why i figured the warriors, look plane but cool.  The warriors are not a bunch of crazy looking anarchist freaks like the furies.  So being that the  movies is about the warriors, I only care for the warriors. So actually I am thinking out side the box, and agreeing with you. I also agree with Turnbull_badger.  We really do not know the furies past, so I don't make assumptions. Just like thinks, there just a bunch of wimps.  Don't get me wrong, I am not underestimating anything, but even if the furies put up a more severe and challenging fight, I would still call them wimps. I guess its that whole gang attitude. Whatever side you are on, everyone one is below you, and like I said, I am only on the side of The Warriors.

I still don't see how they are overrated.  Who has rated them?  When?  Where?  It's each person's interpretation as to how heavy the Furies were supposed to be.  I agree, they got embarrassed.  I stated in another topic that I believe their best moments were left on the cutting room floor.  But to say they are overrated?  Who has rated them so high?
