The Braves as an alternate name for the Warriors? hmmm...

This is an interesting question.  Well you see, it has to be a name that is larger than life.  A name that stands out, and says that you are unique, and you are the one and only.  I guess I would have to say "The Gods".  Just like the warriors, it stands for something that goes beyond normal thinking.  It stands for something, that says you can beat the odds.  A word of perfection that truly says you are the best.  Men among men.  People who can accomplish the impossible, and leave a legacy behind.  The legacy of the "Gods".  I still prefer "The Warriors" though.  I think thats why Walter Hill chose the name.  It stands for something of great significance in this world.  A simple smooth word that says it all.  That says its you and than theres the rest of the world.  The world of the Warriors.  But since you asked I chose the "Gods".  Gods is another simple way that expresses the complexity of people who are nor ordinary in this world.

I've thought about this a few times as when I first saw the film as a kid I must admit I thought that "The Warriors" was a truly terrible and almost lazy choice for a gang name. 

But having said that of all the good gang names I made up I could never think of a name that would suit them.

When I read your post "The Renegades" struck me as good name!
