in the original script(which i havent got!)it has many scenes which arent in the film,some parts which should have been in the film.i am wondering, for those of you who have the original script,is the original draft better than the draft that was put in the film?

Hard to say it is a lot more violent and several things are different i was shocked when i saw it for the first time.

I love the film as it is and it would be a different film if it was like the script.

yeah, yeah, i get it!! what can i say, i'm workin on it!!!! some of us do work!!! lol just kiddin!! i'm tryin man, i'll get it together, and get everybody a copy! i'm havin trouble keepin up wth the buyers on e-bay, if ya can't wait, ya can buy one. (i got em on e-bay, sorry my kids gotta eat!) if ya can't wait! and it's weird, there is so much more in the script, than the movie. i would like to have seen all that's in the script, in the movie, but would it still be the same movie? however, how bad can more warriors be?

While the first script is different from the movie-- my take is that NO I did not enjoy the original draft as much as the released movie.
My favorite-the movie
second-the script
third the book
in that order.

For one thing--the script kills off Cochise before the bat fight with the Furies-so he is gone for the rest of it.
(and Cochise, while not my favorite, did in fact add quite abit to the Warriors group as a whole. And the movie would have been less without him, just my own opinion)

Second: Snow does NOT speak a word, till that last scene getting ready to meet the Rogues, and then it is only a 4 word sentence.
We would have no knowledge of Snow's capabilities of leadership or insite in to his loyalty of the gang--IF this original version would have filmed-just my own opinions. I liked Snow, and his part in the movie.

Third--when Swan is captured and gets the living crap kicked out of him, They keep him alive/imprisoned to turn him over to Riffs-he does escape -but we don't find him again till everyone gets back to Coney, just before they are going to face the Rogues, so we don't know how he actually got back to Coney by himself after he escaped the Dingo gang. But even this script paints a picture of how resourseful he is, and it also hints he is GOOD with a knife!! And they had him wiping his knife blade off on his pantleg instead of Luther's hair---movie was a better touch IMO. LOL

The script does clarify alittle more of who is who and why, and gives alittle more insite into the characters----but while I sort of liked the direction it pointed Fox toward(the movie combined Fox/Swan-so Swan got the major character developments that the script gave FOX--it made Ajax sound like an overly aggressive, really DUMB ass-(maybe he was-but he didn't seem as dumb in the movie) Fox was painted as being more aggressive too, and much more vocal--and that Ajax didn't like either fox or Rembrant very well.--AND it states that Fox and Rembrant were best friends.

IT also paints Cowboy as more of a force in the script than the movie-alittle quicker, more aggressive--like he really earned and deserved the heavy muscle-soldier title.

So I am glad I got the chance to read the script--and it was very interesting--the finished movie we all know, saw and loved--is still the very best version of this story---hands down, no question-but that is just my own thoughts on it.

I've never read the book, but I do wish they would of added a bit more violence to the film.

like weve mentioned in another thread, they should have let the warriors and rogues have a fight before the riffs came, shame they got them weapons and never used them. or maybe a run in with another gang before they split up after orphans and see all 8 warriors sticking together that was there

I guess I would say that the origibal draft was a little bit darker.  I guess because of the casualties.  Cleon, Vermin, and Cochise die, and I felt that leaving in both Fox and Swan toghether left it a little corny.  Its like Fox got the girl, and Swan stayed the loner, and you really don't find out much about him.  If anything, its like Swa and Snow were equivalent to one another.  So the casualties and character chemistry, that the film gave, was better in my opininion.

I think both the script and the final film have things they each do better than the other.

The Warriors as characters are all far more likeable people in the film. Ajax, Vermin, and to a lesser extent Cochise were jerks in the script, and you didn't feel sorry for them when they got killed/arrested. I also like Swan and Snow's character in the movie more than the script. I'd say it's a combination of the actors and softening their personalities a little.

I also prefer the more lighter, comic book feel of the movie, it's something that makes it unique and gives it a lot of character. I don't think The Warriors would have such a long lasting popularity without this, it would probably just be another teen street gang movie.

I like the opening of the script with Lincoln and the Mongols. Gives us a bit more background on the Warriors in their own home turf, and fleshes out Cleon a bit more. I know why they cut Lincoln's scene out, but I think rather than drop it, they should have refilmed it at night, just moments before the Warriors head off.

The Lizzies seemed more threatening in the script than the movie, where they manage to kill Vermin. Maybe instead of kill him, they could have captured him, handed him over to the Riffs, who then turn him loose at the end when they realise the Warriors are innocent.

I like the idea of the Dingoes, and it's a shame they couldn't find a way to include these guys somehow, even if the scene is completely different from the script.
