can someone explain this to me? i saw somewhere that the credits at the end said masai's actual actor name but then that was the wrong name and the person that was actually masai was played by someone else? if this is true, then who is the person that got credited with playing masai

This is interesting.  Was Masai played by Dennis Gregory(as credited) or was it Edward Sewer?

IMDB says Edward Sewer played Masai, and Dennis Gregory is listed as "Riff."  It also says both are dead.  We all know IMDB can be a little shaky with the truth.

But look at the opening credits.  Edward Sewer is listed, but Dennis Gregory is not.  That would leave me to believe that it was actually Sewer who played Masai, not Dennis Gregory.  Maybe Gregory was Masai's informant who kept giving him the updates.

I can't find any photos of either actor so I don't know how to resolve it, unless one of the cast or crew has some knowledge of this.

The only version of the film I have right now is The Ultimate Director's Cut, so it may be different for the others, but in the end credits on UDC it lists Masai as Dennis Gregory.

Right, I have the original version dvd, and it also lists Dennis Gregory as Masai.  What struck me as weird is why they wouldn't list Dennis Gregory in the opening credits, but instead list Edward Sewer.  It makes me wonder if maybe they screwed up the end credits and possibly listed Gregory as Masai, when it was actually Edward Sewer.  Here is the imdb listing for Sewer.

The thing is, we can't rely on imdb or an internet photo as proof.  If any of the moderators have interviews in the works, this might be a good question.

Ed Sewers sister made a post on IMdB and cleared it up.You could probly find her post somewhere on there 8)

It's very accurate, and during the featurette called "The Beggining" on the UDC dvd, Walter Hill and most of the cast and film crew are being interviewied, and towards the start I think, they show pictures of Brian Tyler and Tom McKitterick as Snow and Cowboy and a picture of Masai with Dennis Gregory credited as the actor. I'll try to get the picture and post it.

I think that Masai is interpreted by Ed Sewer because his name is present in Starring open titles, maybe Dennis Gregory is the man who reports to Masai the Warriors' progress.

that like by killermime is intresting because i thought who ever played masai was a good actor and hes only in one film?
