I've had reliable word from Wanda (a loyal fan) that there is a special edition DVD being made, and she was told this by Deborah Van Valkenburgh (Mercy) in person (photo coming soon!). There are apparently commentaries from nine people (including The Warriors). Wanda also told her about the site which she couldn't really believe! Wanda also got some juicy facts about the movie which I'll add to the site real soon.

I always thought recently that something was going on about a special edition DVD. Because for some reason Warriors DVDs have been a LOT more easier to find and for some reason are in catalogues and in some of the main stands. Now the movie isn't that popular here in Australia, so I always perceived that there was something going on.

Also, Fader magazine has a great retrospective interview/article on the film, which features comments from most of the cast and crew. Kevin Bacon is reported to have played a member of a gay gang, the footage of which was eventually cut. Hill doubts the survival of this footage as well most of the other excised scenes. He mentions recently requesting that Paramount do a search for extra materials for the film, but says that most were destroyed over twenty years ago.

Some extra scenes pop up in some tv versions of the film, most notably a daytime pre-credits gang introduction on Coney.


According to Fader's Warriors group interview, David Patrick Kelly ad-libbed his famous provocative line, basing it on a loony Lower East Side character who would taunt him with crazed shouts of "Daaaavid...Daaaavid!" I had wondered why this wasn't in my copy of the script.

In an earlier film script, Kevin Bacon's gang the Dingoes kidnaps Swan, from whom he eventually escapes. This plot point was changed when Thomas G. Waites (Fox) was fired from the film, and the romantic subplot switched from Mercy being involved with Fox to her being hot for Swan.

Not sure how much of it is fact?...Interesting though!

I know the 'homosexual gang' part has been mentioned a while back...i don't think anyone has posted this article though.....if so sorry.

Michael Beck actually admits this in the interview by LOOK magazine. I will scan the article and post it soon. I just don't remember where the fuck I placed the magazine.

Well done AL-B, interesting info. The Dingoes?! I'd heard about the gay gang, but I didn't realise that their scenes were actually shot. Does this mean if you look closely enough there's a chance you could see them in the crowd at the big meeting? And Kevin Bacon, that would've been weird, not to mention scary, especially if you remember his turn as Nokes, the gay sadistic warden in Sleepers. I wonder how Swan got out of that one. I pray that the people at Paramount find this lost footage and put it on the SE DVD.

Thanks AL-B. This is certainly a great time for us Warriors fan. I am surprised that if this footage was actually shot with Kevin Bacon that this info has never surfaced before.

I'm sure we would have heard about Kevin Bacon being in a gang in the film. But, it makes great reading and could be true!

There are stories of black and white film still showing up in our day. I am talking about a century old footage. I would not be surprised that somewhere, in a safe, in a very protective area, such scene exists. That, THAT my friend, would make this film immortal. No matter how many sequels, the original will always be numero uno. Which got me thinking, it would be cool if it comes after the sequel.

Never mind, I am asking to much. I will survive even if the extra scene never makes it.

That rules we'll finally get our SE DVD but it sucks that the deleted scenes that we haven't seen yet are most likely destroyed. Unless some Paramount worker does some really good sleuthing in the "vaults!"

Something similar with "Star Wars." A few years ago, unbelievably someone found an early version "in the vaults" of 20th-Century Fox that was 2 and a half hours long, that's a half hour of extra scenes! And because the film stock was ignored for so long, it deteriorated to being black and white. So somewhere there just may be a full version Warriors!

There's even a deleted scene in "THe Empire Strikes Back" where Luke makes out with his sister! Not the first kiss we see, but a real passionate one later!

I hope they track down and interview the cast members that we never saw again, like the guys who played Snow, Cowboy and Cyrus. I've always wondered what they're up to now, and what they look like.
