What were Cleon's feelings about Cyrus.

If posted before, i couldn't find it.
Here it is, at the start of the movie when Cleon is addressing his Warriors he explains that it's still on and that "they're going". But he finishes it up after talking about Cyrus by saying "I think we better have a look for ourselves." To me the suggests that Cleon doesn't hold Cyrus in too high a regard. The way Cleon says it and his whole attitude just gives the impression that he really doesn't want to go to this thing but that he is out of whatever reason. Cleon seems to be going more out of curiosity. His line I think we better see for ourselves speaks volumes for how he feels about Cyrus. I don't think he believes what he hears about the magic man. However, after Cyrus is gunned down. Cleon has a look on his face that shows genuine saddness. At least that is how I percieve. So what were Cleon's feelings toward Cyrus, Was he skeptical at first but swayed by the Riffs words? Was he truly indifferent toward the one and only? I don't know.
The way I interpret it. I think he respected Cyrus but only as him being the Riffs leader and his idea. I think the sadness he shows is sadness in knowing that the plan Cyrus had will never happen now. Maybe he was more said at the missed opportunity than Cyrus actually being dead. What do suckers think?
p.s. glad to be back after my 5 day ban. When Warchief says no more than 5 posts he means it. My apologies Warchief. Hated my time off.

I think you've got it about right. You can tell during the speech that Cleon is paying close attention and the fact that he'd take the time to get near Cyrus and see if he made it after he was shot, while cops are literally swarming into the park and his gang needs him, says a lot. He clearly was affected by the shooting and cared.

Here's how I see it: Cleon mentions how Cyrus sent a messenger to "make sure", which means there must have been a meeting of some kind with the Warlords/chiefs to make the initial plans. I doubt Cyrus just set the meeting up over the radio. When Cleon says "everybody" he must be talking about other guys besides the Warriors. So I think Cleon met Cyrus at least once before and liked him or respected him.

The way i saw it, the warriors were up and commers and they didnt want to belive that there was a gang such as the riffs that basically dominated the streets. They wanted to believe they had a chance and so they didnt want to believe Cyrus was a ''magic man''. During the meeting Cleon Digged Cyrus' words and started to buy into the invinible riffs. When he was gunned down Cleon was shocked, he needed to know it was the real deal, he needed to know the ''magic man'' was dead. Then i figured he noticed that even the tougest can fall, i dont think he was that grief striken, he didnt seem to sad when he lay a beat down on the rogues. He took it perhaps as a loss because the treaty was off but as a gain because now he would see it as an opening to move forward.

the reason he started kicking the rogues around was they were coming at him and meant business,he was defending himself pure and simple.sure he respected cyrus but when his back was against the wall he had to fight and break the truce.on the other hand the rogues also broke the truce but they were allowed to create more havoc by the riffs.cleon didnt have time to feel sadness when a deranged luther came charging at him.
the other thing i wanna know is why did the riffs not come down hard on the rogues and how the hell did the cops not snap up the rogues?

About the Riffs/Rogues, do you mean at the meeting or on the beach? The cop issue is strange too. Those Rogues were at center stage while the cops were beginning to enter. Plus if they drove their fancy car there, the cops would've been waiting for them.

i meant at the meeting joe.i mean surely after cleon took several of the rogues down they'd be easy pickings for the cops to nab wouldnt they?

About Cleon's feelings. I think he was reluctant to go to the meeting in the first place. The way he talks at the start when he's telling them its still on and they're going makes him look as if he thought it was a bad idea but they could'nt afford not to go because it was a gathering of the top gangs.

The way I see it is Cleon does believe in Cyrus as a great leader and a magic man.He just wants to know these things for sure by going to the meeting.
When you see Cleon's face at the meeting while Cyrus is giving a speech, he looks really interested.

If you watch the original beginning, it kind of gives you a deeper understanding of Cleon's feelings. His girlfriend really doesn't want Cleon to go, but he says, "No sweat, this is gonna be a real big item." Which of course he repeats later on to Swan. I think Cleon really wanted to go to this conclave. I also think Cleon had definite respect for Cyrus, the man, the myth. By saying "I think we better go have a look for ourselves, " to me that implies that he's just never met the guy in person.
