Is the Warriors big over there in the USA
The Warriors is a cult film here in the USA. Films like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Repo Man", and others have a following of people, as does "The Warriors." Most of the people who follow the film here are "older", usually in the 30s and 40s. With all of the gang problems here in America, I seriously doubt that it will be released again in the theatres.
adios,
adios,
"Who are the Warriors? There must be some word?"

Most of my friends who are shall we say not even my friends but some guys that my sister knows who are real big pot heads. I showed them the movie and said that it sucked and that it was stupid to gather everygang in the city but they were saying that how the Crips and Bloods should have been in it.
Thank god one of them was caught by the police for fist fighting in the streets.
Always be awhile, Not here much so don\'t expect much of a response

Acutally, The Warriors are bigger in american then what you guys think. I always see skits, or quotes in other shows, that are obviously from the warriors. Also, there are alot of rap songs that say quotes from the warriors, and one rap group even made a music video that shows their group as the warriors, and they are running from other gangs.

Just in case you wanted to know, the rappers who copied the warriors in their video was d12.
You guys are good.....reeeeeaal good.
The best.

movie
I've heard people for years using Cyrus' "can you dig it" line. They may not even have known the movie.
"Warriors....come out to play" has a lot of copycats too........

I know for a fact that this movie totally kicks ass here in the US and also in other parts of the Americas such as Mexico. Just as it is a fact that the movie encouraged a recurrence in gang activity in the States, it did so in our neighbor's territory.
"This is what we fought all night to get back to?"

I agree that The Warriors is pretty popular, and it has put a few lines in the "American lexicon." The top three would be "Can you dig it?", "Come out and playyyy" and Ajax's popsicle line. Many people here even know of these lines but not where they are from, that's pretty cool. A few friends of mine even who never saw the movie watched "I Love The 70's" or whatever it is called on VH-1, and asked me to get together for a viewing. They also said about the popsicle line, "THAT'S where that is from eh?"
Dee Snider of Twisted Sister even said their "Come Out and Play" album was named after the famous line. More music, LOL in '93 I was in a band and we called ourselves "The Orphans" and we used to play the famous "You see Warriors..." stuff before shows. Everyone knew where it as from.
If it is gonna be in theaters anywhere it would have to be here in NYC, at a revival house or something. Older movies are always playing aropund town. Not long ago, one theater in The Village played a week's worth of old Godzilla films, that ruled!@
I remember when Superman The Movie came out on DVD, it had a rerelease in a few theaters, but not here in NYC. I have a feeling some theater here is gonna play it again, even if just to make a few nights worth of bucks when the remake comes out. If that happens, the NYC and NYC-bound posters here MUST get together! Actually, any NYC and area posters up for a get together anyway?
