Maybe because black and orange are their colors. Or orange is for training, hang out, date

, and black is for war.

I was thinking maybe Orange is their original colors , the black is because they are mourning cyrus. Showing respect for the man who started it all, and making sure the people resposible pay.

They also seem to have higher ranking members who stand toward the front of the ranks while Masai is talking to them.

I like the theory of them being in mourning for Cyrus when wearing the black robes, shows that they respected him

I know that, in the past, I have put down the idea that gangs in the movie have multiple outfits (i.e. one for formal ocasions one for being on the warpath etc.). But the more I think about it the more it's clear that that is true for at least some of the gangs.
I think this is what's going on with the Riffs. The robes are kind of like their "dress blues" if you will. They were wearing them in the Riff's headquarters becuase they had just come from the meating they didn't change. But when they move on the Rogues their in battle gear, their "camo fatigues".
Chances are the Furies have a similar setup (maybe their war and formal outfits are the same face paint/jersey setup, but they must have a casual outfit for normal day to day use).

Yeah I like that. I just think it is their day time outfit. I don't think The Furies wore facepaint during the day. I'm not even sure if they'd have been out on patrol during the day in large numbers. I imagine them in some kind of casual baseball gear. Maybe a Furies bomber jacket. They probably all wore toned down gang outfits as worn by gangs in The Wanderers during the day.

Im pretty sure the furies would always wear their baseball set up, Maybe, and i use maybe losely that they wouldnt wear the make up during the day, but its all part of why so many people are afraid of them, without the face paint they wouldnt seem as freaky, it keeps people off their turf.

The black robes are their overalls, and the orange being the casual clothes.
