What Is It About the Furies?

I know a lot of you love them and think they are the best gang in the movie but why?? They are only in it for a short period of time and they get beaten , even though they out numbered the warriors. Don?t want to cause a massive argument just want to know why everyone goes on about them.

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe because their style in unique...I think it is, but they're not my favorite gang. They just didn't do anything that made me like them so much.

Yeah their style in clothes is canny unique but still does not change the fact they are not really any good, or are the warriors just that highly skilled it made the Furies look like amatures.

look man, you cant judge anyone on the fact the WARRIORS beat them in a fight

the movie was called THE WARRIORS

it wasnt called THE FURIES

but the reason why i like them so much is beacuse

they never speak one line and like you said there only in it for a short time

but when you walk away from the movie for the first time, they stick out in your mind. like wow. those guys were somthing else. you see the high hats at the start but you forget all about them by the speach. but the warriors really stay in your mind, there style. its diffrent then the warriors style. i mean whats special about the warriors? they look like a biker club with out the bikes. thats what there vest look like. if it was the other way around and it was a furies movie and they had to beat down the warriors. very few people would be warriors fans beacuse there is no real flash about them. if it was the other way around and the warriors did no tallking and where in the move that short time, you have to wonder if anyone would like them. sure a few would but i dont think they would have the heavy rep they do

but the furies no speaking lines and almost no movie time and they carry a rep with the fans almost as large as the warriors, the gang the movie is based on

beacuse the furies are dark and there a style that isnt touched by anyone else, beacuse there music gives you a surge when you hear it start. and the first time you see the warriors come walk out and say "we better get out of here" and you see the yellow furies face and you get that feeling in your stomic like "this is gonna b good" that my friend is why I like the furies

well said Kartoon! i gotta agree the first time i saw the movie over 10 years ago the Furies were who i remembered and talked about. for me most of the reason i love the other gangs in the movie is humor value at their colors and cheezy lines. the furies kept their dignity, even if they did get beat by the stars of the movie.

Ok only asking and i was not judging them on the fact they got beat by the warriors, was just asking as everyone goes on about how great they are and you have given me your reasons why, thanks.

the furies are the gang that give you eeriest silent glare that scare the crud out of even the hardest gang member.they were a menacing sight and gave the viewers that sense of uneasiness.they were the gang that heightened the tensions of the warriors even more in a night that was already a living nightmare.

thats my say on why the furies are one of the most talked about gangs.

It's the way the director presented them. They just appear in the street almost like ghosts, waiting for the warriors. On top of that, the music that went with the chase scene really established the Furies as a force.

The actual fight scene was a huge disappointment, IMO.

But when you ask most people what they remember about the movie, they'll almost invariably say two things: "Warriors come out to play" and The Baseball Furies.

I concur with is said here. When I was young and snuck in to see this movie back in 1979 the Furies were definately the gang that made the biggest impression. Plus a lot of us kids were Kiss fans back then so the writers/producers knew what they were doing.

i think its because they just stand out. there the only gang in the movie that we see in the night when the warriors are on there way home that paint there face to make themselved look scaryn and the way they are intoduced to the film, the way they are standin in a semi circle waiting for the warriors to come out the station.

(there will be no more "warrior" bashing, i don't care what point we're tryin to prove!) lol :p

however..........

there's not much for me to say about the furys, that hasn't already been said!!! the furys are kool, man!! come on!!!
the look, the feel, the eeriness, of em!! they're mysterious!!!
you ask anybody who saw the movie 25 years ago, (who aren't hardcore fans!) what they remember from that movie, and they'll tell you one of two, things!
either, "can you digg it?" or
"The Baseball Guys!!!"
NOBODY remembers ANYTHING about "the warriors, except that was the name of the movie!!!!
now, me, personally, i loved the fact that the warriors didn't look like some of the other gangs!!!
they were kool, and looked kool, without goin overboard!!! ya know?
they were "casual kool!"

anyway, look at it this way, the furys got beat down, and like you said toon, they are as popular, or (i actually think MORE popular!) as the warriors!
and they got whupped!!
can you imagine how popular they would be, if they woulda let em whup a lttle ass, in the movie????
we'd be on "The Furys" fan-site, right now!!!

"the furys" in the script however, were no joke!!!
they killed "Cochise"!!!!!

now ask yourselves this, would the furys be as popular, without the make-up???
probably not.
kinda like kiss, huh?

They are simply visually appealing. I mean the face paint contrasted by the dark of their hair. You don't know anything about them. THey never speak is a small part. (The punks never spoke, but how tough is a guy in overalls on skates). The big on I think is the ominous feel you get when the four Warriors come out and there they are. So creepy, even Ajax got weirded out at first. If the toughest soldier in the bunch doesn't mind running ( even though it was justs at first and he did collect himself enough eventually to take it to them) then that my friend means they made an impact. Just my humble opinion that takes points from others who have spoke.

but its true

if they were justs oem other gang in the movie...with the way they look its a hard sell to anyone who is really being honest to say they would have been a real big gang to remeber. i mean really....if those guys looked like that...and dig 0 talking at all...do you really think SHM that they would have the same effect on people the furies have?

no, probably not!
they wouldn't be that memorable, without the story.
the furys were, but that's because of the make-up!
they didn't have to say a word!!
they're looks did all the talking.

but again, me, myself, i've always liked the less flamboyant, so to speak!
as far as characters in movies, and such. i don't know why, i always have.
i guess the thing is more, people i can identify with. i guess???
