Yeah, this is my first post...be nice...

My question is this: Why did Luther kill Cyrus? Sure Luther was nutty as...well...a bowl full of nuts, but that's not the point. I think he was paid to assassinate Cyrus by some organized crime elements, which would explain the mysterious phone calls. The Mafia probably felt threatened by Cyrus & the Riffs' growing power and control of the streets and paid some nutjob (that'd be Luther) to do him in. Framing it on the Warriors was probably some last minute addition to keep the blame off the Rogues.

If anyone else thought of this obviously obvious idea let me know.

That is a good theory but, in his phonecalls he is heard saying somthing along the lines of "some guy named cyrus had an accident or something"
"yeah they deserve it"

He wouldn't need to tell anyone who had paid him to shoot cyrus.

I have always thought Luther was talking to the leader of the rogues on those phone calls.by leader i mean the man behind the scenes kinda like a darth vader and the emperor situation. Luther most likely did not have the ok to
shoot cyrus but felt he could get away with it anyway. So anyway i think Luther shot cyrus for the reason he says"no reason, i just like doing things like that" seeing as he thought he was in clear at the point he says that to swan. he would have no reason to hide any other motive since he was about to kill swan.

i think luther didnt want the city to merge into one gang!

As from the Classic Luther He had " No reason I just like doing things like that" Luther was one guy that was a junkie it looked like he was really messed up.

I think he says, "This guy Cyrus...." In my "cops or Riffs" theory he isn't telling the person on the other line something that they didn't already know. I don't think it was the Mafia. I see the connection, if any, between OC and our Cyrus network as on a gang to gang basis. Like a family might use/pay a group like the Panzers to do something for them and they exist on different planes.

i think they got there and decided nah this is crazy we dont like the idea and either luther was the one stupid enought to shoot or the most accurate

Luther was just crazy. He didn't need a reason, he just needed opportunity, and he got it.

I think Cyrus was killed because 1. Luther is a nutcase and 2. The Rogues were probolly sick and tired of the Riffs dictating what will go down and when, for example they call this big meeting and because they are the biggest gang everyone comes, Everyone also thinks cyrus is magic so They might have thought that if you take the magical leader away from the riffs they will slowly fall apart, although masai is an awesome leader, just a thought

Luther wanted to rule the city, not cyrus thats why then if he wasted the warriors he would get respect and possibley rule the city....but that didnt happen did it...noperr

I dont think it was the mafia he was talking to at the phone i always though it was the leader of the rogues since when you see the movie you can see that luther isnt the leader just has the intimidation thing going on the other gangmembers.He must be a 2nd man in charge or something like that.But the "leader" that i think he was talking to didnt really plan that to happen i think it was something luther had planned.dont know why but maybe "just to silence that old man and his crazy ideas" or just to for fun.Or maybe seeking respect in the gang.But nevertheless is just my opinion.

In my personal opinion i think luther wasnt looking for ruling the city or such big plans.If you into his character his a junkie hes high on dope almost evrytime you see him in the movie.Also his skin tone,man thats weird he has like four diferent skin tones only on his face,or he hasnt taken a bath in days or he has some kin of desease.Maybe multyple personalities that would explain much of his weird acts.

he is NOT RATIONAL.

there is no thought behind his actions, he has no thoughts about the consequences.

he acts and then reacts to what he does...lives 10 seconds at a time (just like vin diesel)
