Coney Island is the coolest gang turf in the movie?!

It's got amusments, arcades, the beach and the sea and also seems to be quite a big area. The Warriors could use the beach to trap gangs, or lay and wait in on one of the rides.

What do you think?

Or are there any other cool places in NY that you can think of as cool turf?

I agree, Coney island is a really cool place for a upcoming gang to hide-out. Its got that industrial, rundown theme to it which gives the veiwer the feeling that anything could happen on coney island.

As far as hideouts go, you can't beat the rundown/abandoned amusement park. Especially since in The Warrior's day you could hide, yourself or anything else for that matter, under the boardwalk so easily.

However, I also have to tip my hat to The Baseball Furies, having even part of Central Park in your turf really helps if you want to hide or lead people into an ambush or even if you just want to take a nice relaxing strole under the stars with your best baseball bat.

Also, the Savage Huns have Chinatown and while that doesn't give them a whole lot of strategic advantage I just happen to think Chinatowns look cool.

Coney island is special, and the warriors makes Coney island more special, But I don't think Coney is the coolest gang turf in New York. Becouse we've don't seen so muth from other gang turfs. If you don't count with tha game.

My big question about Coney Island is, How big is it? I thought Coney Island was a small amusement park in Brooklyn. Obviously i Was wrong. Is a small section near Coney Island referred to as Coney Island?

I remember when Swan was looking out at homes when he got off the train at Coney. Was that a part of Coney Island too? That is all my question.

Coney Island is actually a peninsula now. It used to be an island, seperated by a little creek from the rest of Brooklyn, but that creek was filled in in the forties and fifties. It's more than just the park, it is a neighborhood of about 60,000 people.

It had its prime in the first half of the century. In the Seventies and Eighties it really started falling apart and it was known for medical waste and syringes floating up on its beaches.

BTW, Wonderwheel is actually 85 years old.

And did you know it has never had a fatality? Solid, just like The Warriors.

thanx for the info killermime. I always wondered about the Island. You were more informative than the website about Coney Island.
