i dont think ajaz is as stupid as everyone thinks!!

i'll put a case together...

1.when all hell breaks loose at the meeting, who finds the best way to get outta there and to regroup...ajax, he punches through the wood, leads them to the graveyard and is 1st outta there!!
- its cleon who is gormless enough to stick around!!

2.ajax always says 'im sick of running etc', which everyone says he is stupid for cos the others want to get home quick...but when they do rumble what happens...ajax is actually right, he whoops em easy!!! ask cowboy what he thinks of ajax.

3.ajax is brave but he does know when to run...runs away from turnbull and orphans when outnumbered heavily. he may want to fight but he is smart enough to run if the others dont back him up!!

4.he only gets busted by a hot cop, not any gang! coming onto that cop...is that stupid (that strange wool is fine!)

5.spends the night in a cell...cant keep him for longer than that. is this bad? gets off the street! maybe what he got outta that strange wool (a bit of breast etc) was worth a liitle cell time
and in response to an old thread...theres no way he would die in the cell from his bust lip!!

lol couldnt have said it better myself, everbody doubts the intelligence of ajax but atleast he wasnt stupid enough to stay at the meeting which was surrounded by cops and rival gangs, or to get thrown into an incoming train by a wimpy overweight cop

 :evil: .......if ajax is so smart, then how come he doesnt have such a high rank(heavy muscle says it all and technically he has no right to take over the gang, his position says so)? my favourite characters are cowboy cleon and ajax but only ajax because hes got character.

in reality ajax is a thug, he isnt very bright to take on swan and he certainly isnt very bright to "rape" that strange wool. because if ajax is so smart how come cowboy,snow and swan were the only ones who actually thought this woman was suspicious? BECAUSE THEY ARE SMART

I have to agree with bobo. A great character but not the sharpest tool in the shed.

SEW re: point one you have forgot to mention some keys points for consideration which I would believe shows Ajax was a follower rather than leading the group to their exit from the conclave.

1. When the police lights first come on it is Cleon who leads the way as he is the first one to jump down from their raised position closely followed by Swan and Cochise. Then the others.
2. It is Cleon who tells them all to run against the crowd.
3. When we next see the Warriors running against the crowd it is Swan in the front followed by Ajax. Therefore it is reasonable to say it was Swan who leads them to the exit, and finally
4. Ajax and Swan were BOTH working on the breaking though the exit together. Guess hitting bits of wood is the duty of heavy muscle.

I never have thought that Ajax was stupid---BUT he is totally impulsive, and it rules what he does and he mostly reacts to instincts. He may know when to run, but he also would have fought if anybody else would have.
He would like to think of himself as a leader--but he doesn't lead, he does what appeals to himself at the time--which is why no one would follow him.
It isn't so much a question of intelligence, as the fact that he only looks at situations one way--and doesn't think about what may be best for the whole group.

I think the one redeeming thing he did in the whole movie-(besides being honest with Swan in one of the deleted scenes)--was when he actually will not leave Cowboy behind when Cowboy was going to give up running--THAT was NOBLE----he didn't think about it, just reacted to the situation, cause he wanted to fight anyway, but in that instance his instincts were right on.

ajax, not swan is the first one to start punching through the wooden wall, and if you look close, he is the first one through the wall, but then wait's till all the rest of the warriors, including everybody's pretty boy swan, to get through, and then he starts to run!! and when they're running from the orphans, well kinda running from them! ajax wait's at the door to the platform for fox, and mercy, before he runs in!
and wouldn't leave cowboy, useless tired but, when they we're running from the fury's! (don't know why??) other than the make-up the furys were pretty useless too!! and kept slappin em on his rump, to keep him going!
and he was the baddest of the warriors, and he would beat into the ground, any of the other warriors!!
so let's recap,
doesn't wanna run! (unless abslolutely necessary!)
won't leave another member behind! (no matter what the odd's!)
lead's them out of the cemetery, and make's sure everybody through before he runs!
and is the baddest mug in the gang!

Ajax isn't my cup of tea but, I wouldn't say he's stupid.

More that he acts on impulse and doesn't stop to think if it's the correct thing to do. But, when you live the lifestyle he does it's probably best to act on impulse most of the time. I wouldn't want to follow him as War Lord though as we wouldn't make it back to Coney.

He's smart enough but, Swan is smarter.

When you're in a gang you got to have some smarts to stay alive.

Are you guys crazy? Clearly Ajax is the smartest of the group seeing as when they're stuck in enemy gang terriotry miles away from their turf after just defeating the Furies his first thought is to molest a woman as opposed to getting home.

Im not saying Ajax is the smartest or the best leader but he did look out for his boys. That is enough to respect anyone.

Ajax floors 2 cops now that I think of it. The first one at the park and the one on the one on the stairs in the subway.

Ajax. He invokes such emotion in fans. He won't be ignored. People who say he's great have plenty of good points. Likewise, people who have Ajax complaints or downfalls, also have plenty of material on their side. I think the majority of fans feel the way Cleon does: He is a pain, he's trouble, he'll never be Warlord, but he is good to have on your side in a fight.
