Frequently people refer to the Lizzes as a lesbian gang such as the DVD cult review who describes them as "An all female gang is made-up of multi-ethnic lesbians".

So why do so many people assume that they are a lesbian gang. I don't recall any refernce to their sexuality in the orginal script or in the film. Infact one of the Lizzes makes the comment that they have dudes but they went to the big metting and are real lame.

So why do so many people refer to them as a lesbian gang?. I know you have the two lizzes dancing in a provocative manner but this alone is not enough to label them as a lesbian gang.

It's implied that they are lesbians...it is never stated whether they are or not...their name 'Lizzies' suggests this...names can be deceiving...so if all girl gangs are lesbians...are all male gangs homosexuals...maybe 'The Dingos'...also when one of the 'Lizzies' said the dudes went up to the the Bronx...I think that was to make Cochise feel more relaxed...but you have to admit the two girls dancing together are very hot

Some of them do look like lesbians, particularly the scary butch one who gets a chair smashed over her head by Cochise.

That Scary one who got the chair broke over her was pretty rank. she just looked like a man. I bet her stun dubble was a man.

Your above statement is aimed as evidence to support your belief that the lizzies were a lesbian gang but is merely your opinion and not based on any facts.

This is basically what I was saying in my orginal post.

I agree that when she said "their dudes went to the Bronx" it was said to make the Warriors more relaxed as the Lizzies aim was to trap them in their flat. But this doesn't mean that they do or don't have guys.

And whilst the name and the dancing scene may imply that the Lizzies are a lesbian gang it is merely suggestion. I guess I raised this subject to ask/challenge why so many people automatically assume that because they are an all girl gang they therefore are a lesbian gang when this is never stated. As you say, are all male gangs gay. This is never assummed by anyone.

I think why so many males are so quick to assume the Lizzies MUST be a lesbian gang has less to do with facts but more to do with desire.

I think some are probably lesbians because no man with any taste would go there

They are all pretty ugly so i have no desire towards them. I just thought that a room/club full of females drinking beer, smoking, dancing in a provocative way with each other, playing pool and no signs of any men etc would make me and most people think they are a lesbian gang.

If they had dudes would they not be waiting near the club to storm it when the Warriors arrive?

And if they had dudes I'm sure they would have had more than 9 and at least a few would be left behind to protect their turf.

Hmmm, looking like a lesbian and actually being one is completely different. Altough I did think the Lizzies were gay but looking at in now I think its just a few of them

I said some of them not all of them, and I know that looking like a lesbian and actually being one is different, but if you look like one and behave like one then there's a good chance that you are one. I'm pretty sure that the one I was talking about was supposed to be a lesbian, she looks like she's just got out of Prisoner Cellblock H!

I don't doubt that some of them were gay as national statistics would support that in any large group a certain percentage would be gay. I would imagine this percentage is considerably higher in an all girl gang just like strippers are more likely to have gay relationships. This post is to question WHY people offen assume that the Lizzies (as a group) were lesbians when infact it was never said.

In today's ASBO society we frequently hear of all girl gangs, yet I doubt membership to these gangs are dependant on them being a lesbian. I also believe the WI does not require you to be a lesbian . Assumming the Lizzies did not have dudes in the gang, the reference "our dudes" may refer to another gang who the Lizzies occassionally hook up with for fun. This would possibly explain why no guys were around. The Lizzies were a female gang but does that mean that they were a lesbian gang?.

As I first stated there was never any reference to it in either the orginal script or film.
