It is common knowledge that Fox died.

Or so we should believe right? Ha.. I just watched the movie again for the first time in 2 years and I noticed a pretty big botch in the movie. When Rembrandt, Vermin, and Cochise meet up with Cowboy and Snow at the station, Cowboy and Snow explain that Ajax got pinched and they do not know about Swan. No one asks anything about Fox as if everyone knows he got thrown into the tracks and died... It is like... They ask, "where is everyone" and they explain for only 2 people. Dont get me wrong, even catching this botch in writing, I still know for a fact this is the greatest movie ever made. :D

The director Walter Hill and Thomas Waits (Fox) didn't get along too well, so long story short, Thomas ended up walking off from the project. His character's death was the the solution of his leaving, and because he wanted to completely erase himself from the movie, the rest of the gang sort of "forgets" about him. He even took his own name off the credits.

yea, she told Swan that the cops got him, but neither Swan or Mercy are in the scene in question. They ask about everyone except Fox.

And I did not know the guy who played Fox walked off the movie, no wonder I thought his death blew... Made me mad anyway. LoL

Some things are just unspeakable. If it helps to plaster over the plothole, you could pretend that no one can bring themselves to acknowledge Fox's fate, and so it's just "understood" between them without confronting its harsh reality with verbal exchange...

Bunkum of course, but hey, it's all about suspending one's disbelief, right? 8)

I know that, but do anyone knows why the hell he didn't get along with Walter Hill? Is there some interview where Walter Hill have told about him and Thomas Waits?

Here's my post from this thread:

I'm paraphrasing from memory, but from Thomas himself (at the "aught-nine" Conclave):

"I was young... and STUPID! I just had a bad attitude, almost the whole time."

He cautioned any young hopeful actors in the audience to learn from his error!

Said he, even the very fact that his vest was buttoned was a part of the problem!

Early on, he noticed that everyone else had their vests open, so he thought if his was closed, he'd stand out. Soon enough, he changed his mind and wanted to be like the rest, but was told that he couldn't, as it would affect continuity!

This one little event resulted in a big blow-up!

Also, very interestingly (but not surprising given SAG rules), the decision for Thomas' name not appearing on the film was entirely his own, done out of spite, and anger!

"Learn from my errors!", he again cautioned.

Oh, didn't know that.

Too bad for him, I wished he was alive. In the movie, he was always nice, didn't talk too much...

Btw, thanks for answer.
