Warriors: Unrealistic?

IiI said this to my mate the other day. Don't you think the Warriors is unrealistic in a way. Yeh i know rthat they were meant to get home as part of the Story. But in The Furies fight. Only Cowboy was knocked down or hit. and would the rest just stand bye and watch their leader get wrecked in real life? They didn't get any offence at all. I think it could have been a bit more realistic in that way.
The Punks fight was way more realistic.

It was supposed to be scary and suspensful. knock out one warrior..the furies surrounded ajax and prepared to watch their leader wreck him...that sure didn't happen as he was turned into a popsicle. And before the other furies could do anything Swan and Snow came in and flanked, catching the furies off guard. They had to make it unrealistic or else it would just have ended up like Cleon vs the Riffs, with the furies just swarming and beating down all the warriors with their bats in a gruesome bloody horror show.

You have a point but The Furys just stood around and never mounted any offence apart from The Cowboy incident. I think that The Furys should have challenged the Warriors a bit more, but obviously They should win. What i'm sayin is that The Furys could have got more offence to make it a better fight.

Think you just have to enjoy the Warrirors for what it is, there are loads of incidents in the film you could look at as unrealistic.
For example why didn't they just hot wire a car and drive back to Coney?
Would make more sense, but wouldn't have been much of a movie!
That's the beauty of films, they take take us away from reality and take us on an adventure.
Let's be honest do you really think their were gangs in NYC dressing up like the High Hats, lol, they would have got served up looking like that!!

Yes, but i think the Warriors should have made it more interesting by letting the Furies have more offecne. I'm sure it would make it more better. What do you think about that?

What do you mean?
Do you mean the Warriors themselves should have tatically let the Furies attack them, or do you mean Walter Hill should have written it so the Warriors were attacked more?
If Walter had written it differently then yeah you could have had the Furies attack in packs and they may well have been more successful. I do know what you mean, there is one part that always makes me laugh, it's when a Fury is literally just stood there watching and I think it's Swan come's up behind him and just lamps him with a bat, very funny but not realistic.
I do agree that the Furies fight is a little stupid in the fact that many of them are just stood there waiting to get hit, but we spot that becuase we have seen the movie hundreds of times, what did you think the first time you saw it? I was blown away and thought it was an amazing fight, Walter made it exciting and action packed, problem is I think we have over analyzed it and now see the faults.

If you look at action films from the same period; kung fu in particular; the bad guys always stand around and take it in turns to be physically pummelled by the hero. The furies fight was meant to capture the same feel as a sword duel and partly to mimic the light sabre fight from the hugely succesful starwars movie. It might have been more brutal if they stuck to the original script where the furies kill cochise.
Anyways... I think Walter more than made up for it with the bathroom scene. That fight took more filming days than the furies so maybe thats why they have two completly different feels to it. Time constraints can change a directors original vision.

None of the fights are realistic but Walter Hill knew what he was doing with fight sequences. Watch again and take notice of how each fight is ratcheted up a notch danger and stakes building to the awesome bathroom brawl with the Punks.
The fight with the Furries is the first time we get to see the Warriors (aside from Cleon - who was pretty sick) bop. Hill had to establish that while the Warriors were smart enough to run if they could, they could scrap with the best when their backs were to the wall. I personaly love the Furies fight as is - looked to me like they were over confident and cocky since they had numbers and weapons. The Warriors turned out to be Spartans of the street, worth 2-3 Furies each on that night.
To paraphrase the juicy-lipped Deejay Oracle, guess the Baseball furies dropped the ball and the Warriors are stealing home.

Good point my man.
But what about this? >>> When Ajax kicked that Fury ass before yellow/black Fury, yellow/black had just wanted to be alone, taking out Ajax without help, so other Furies has surrounded him. Ajax kicked ass again and in that moment Swan and Snow came behind Furies, but Furies were unprepared for that. The Warriors won!

it is more respectful to take someone on 1 on 1, i think the gangs dont want to kill each other, they respect each other, its not fair to just gang bash someone,
UNLESS YOUR THE RIFFS
