here is a referance from a book in the uk

the book is called "gangs of dundee"

heres what it says

In 1979 the police announced they were going to 'pull out all the stops to curb the problem of rampaging football fans in the city'. Vandalism was as bad as ever and in the dimly-lit streets of Dundee's housing schemes the gangs were kicking off with each other. Four movies were released which grabbed a generation much as A Clockwork Orange had been done back in 1971: The Wanderers, Scum and Quadrophenia each became instant hit and there was also Walter Hill's The Warriors. The Warriors really set the streets alight. Based on a novel by Sol Yurick, the film follows a gang called The Warriors as they make their way back to Coney Island after being wrongly accused of murder at mass gathering of New York gangs. Along the way.every street tribe is waiting to have a go at them. with home video recorders, even youngsters of an impressionable age gleaned the message---gang fighting was cool!

it is on page 120 -121 of Gary Robertson's
                                 GANGS OF DUNDEE
