Why didn't they just call?

I have always wondered; why didn't they just call?  After Vermin, Rembrandt, and Cochise found out about the blame on them, why didn't they just call the members back in Coney and give them a heads up.

Because it wasn't convenient to the plot the writers had in mind.

I think that the reason the Warriors didn't call ahead was because they were concerned about their own safety first, everytime they thought that they had reached a safe place something else would happen or another gang would show up and they would have to keep moving, but I also think that they would have taken the time to call ahead if they had found out sooner about the bounty on their heads

although obvious, its true, wudnt be much of a struggle if they called the gangs back home, the movie is about a struggle and all them soldiers and cops that stand between them and home

if i was in that situation getting help from my other gang members would be the first thing on my mind aswell as trying to get home

I guees Gramercy hit it right on the head, but from the characters' perspective and not the writers, I guess their priority was to tell Swan and the others before those back home and they may not have been worrying so much about them. Either that, or the simply had no change to use a phone

True, it might be on your mind to look for a phone and call, but unless you were actually in that position I think it is hard to say.

In that position, I think I'd try only to go on... I mean, every moment is very "precious". Even a phone call, would be a sorta waste of time. "Maybe "essential" maybe"... but to me, somehow, not just a thing to do. 8)

True, it might be on your mind to look for a phone and call, but unless you were actually in that position I think it is hard to say. 

problem is they didnt have mobile phones either which wud have been a problem but wat wasnt invented is never missed ?

Indeed, if they did have a mobile... it'd have been different, and also the Movie (I mean from 1979 to around 1990)... but yeah, anyway they could have called more easily. I mean, the first chance was when they were in the Graveyard!!! 8)

Well obvisouly the script didn't call for that, but in a real situation, it would be impressive for someone not think that.  Cochise even says "we gotta tell the others", so with them in mind, I wonder if someone wouldn't think of the live bunch back in Coney.

Lion, at this point I would wonder if Walter Hill made a sorta (wanted) mistake. I mean, obviously he knew very well there were other Warriors, but if Swan had called them... maybe the last scene would of been different (and maybe all the Movie, too). So, because of this, (again) maybe W. Hill decided not to use those figures. 8)
