Warriors Locations 25 Years Later
Not only Luna Park, but also Steeplechase Park and Dreamland. Sadly, fire spelled the end of many of these places over the years. Thanks for your response man. The last time I was there it was last winter . It was terribly cold and I could not do the board walk. It is amazing how things change dramatically over the years. One of your observations, regarding the laws about landmarks, I thought they had been in effect long before that. Maybe they only included New York City and not their bordering sites. What is astonishing about Coney Island is that here once stood the biggest and most famous park of all time, Luna Park.

Regarding landmark status, buildings must reach a certain age (100 years?) to become protected as landmarks. I'm not familiar enough with the legalities of this process to give further details.

Thanks for the link. I remember visiting the web site some time back. I noticed that the historian in charge reeally knows his history well. That is a great page. As a matter of fact I printed some old time maps just to locate where some of the buildings used to stand.CleonsChoice wrote:Not only Luna Park, but also Steeplechase Park and Dreamland. About halfway up the block. The building on the corner has the white bottom. Walk up the street and about where that first building ends is the spot. Are you in NYC yet??
