I think that Cyrus might be a man who struggles with his most inner self.  A man who has a perfect combination of Yin and Yang(total opposites).  Although Cyrus has such a brilliant enigmatic brain, he still can't really predict the future, no matter what vision he has.  Maybe he was a man fighting for the greater and common good, but who knows with great good also comes great evil as well. And if he had evil intension, there would probably be a spark of good trying to be released.  My point is, lets say Cyrus had good intentions, for a while he would have the city within his grasp, share the wealth and keep order, but just like Darth Vader, he would get consumed by greed.  Than this one spark of greed would cause the rivalry between hated gangs to crack open again.  Bad enough the alliance was hanging by a thread.  thats the reasons for gangs, because you have your own traditions, customs, and believes, on what you think is the right way of acting.  So eventually it would break into complete chaos.

No lets say, Cyrus was greedy from the start, the gangs would realize this, and he would become the very man he swore not to become, and thats "The Man"(government).  Then there would be blood flowing on the streets, from disagreement.  Bad enough some gangs can't control issues amongst themselves, how will they unify?  Eventually Cyrus would have to pull the plug, defend his army,  try to salvage what ever is left, and make things the way they used to be.  Everyone stays within their own zones, with there own issues of life.  So which ever path he takes, it unavoidable.  I think thats the point of the movie.  Its sad, but true.  Who knows, maybe in some lifetime, things will be unified.  But as of now the armies of the night will stay separate.  Who knows what the future hold?

I would say both. Cyrus originally wants to be the Mac - he wanted to strengthen the gangs in the city - under his power.
Gangs are gangs and they are unlawful, of course they would have kicked off.

While I think Cyrus would have enjoyed the position of power being of head of a gang with 60,000 members (and who doesn't like power?), I think he was sincere in his efforts to join the gangs as one for control of NYC, and not screw any of them over.

One has to remember that Cyrus seems to have quite a rep to begin with - "the one and only" - and that he was able to command thousands of gang members from all over NYC to the big meeting (at such an unconvenient place too, upper west side Bronx) shows he had respect and admiration to begin with. And of course, "magic." The Riffs obviously adore him. It seemed Cleon was especially saddened by his death

Plus, for the benefit of the plot, I don't think it would have worked as well with Cyruss as an unsympathetic character. One can speculate on whether he was bad or good (as good as a gang leader can be I guess LOL) but overall I'd say he was a sincere, magical, and charismatic guy.

I just want to know how the heck everyone heard him from the back rows lol. Heck, the middle rows!
Big Cyrus. He was gonna run the whole city...what crap that was.
