Absolutely , very well said . I'd have to agree that sitting him in front of the set alone would not go over too well , but your a fan so i highly doubt that you'd wanna miss out on the flick and your boys excitementRanchgal wrote: My son and I probably watched some age inappropriate stuff too--he was about 9 or 10 the first time we watched The Warriors, but we had other stuff we were in to too---I say most important thing is for you to watch it together, and he can feel the movie and react to it, from you--and you can explain---about the only thing that comes to mind that might possibly bother him, would be the Furies, with their face paint, and the bathroom fight, cause it is so close to the viewer--and as long as you are there to explain what the Furies are, and why they paint up like that--I can't see any problem with it at all.
Communication between you and him is the most important key.

Re: What age is "TOO YOUNG" to watch The Warriors???
Thanks to everyone on your comments on this issue. After reviewing all of the responses and thinking about it, I am probably going to try and find my old VHS copy of The Warriors that I tapped off of cable many years ago. It's pretty much the TV version, so it has the profanity deleted, which was one of the main issues I had with my five (5) year old watching it. Let's face it, the vast majority of the violence is pretty tame, so I don't think that is really too big of an issue. My son is used to seeing The Furies with all my posters, pictures and action figures, so I don't *think* that will be a big deal...
If I can't find my TV version, then we'll watch the DC version and I'll have a little talk with him before about the language and how he is NOT allowed to repeat it, especially around his mom...
Again, thanks for everyone's advice and for the kind words about the pic of my wild-child son... 8)
Anyone else have any suggestions/advise???

well he could watch it sure, but is your child old enough to understand concepts in the movie? will he go and punch someone who has rollerblades on becuase he thought that that kid was a member of the Punks? or Grope a female classmate becuase thats what ajax did? See what i mean? i think you should wait till your child is ready to deal with the subjects of violence, sex, and drugs. at least censor it a bit use the age old trick of covering his eyes.

Too young is the ripe old age of Not Born Yet.Just as long as the kid wont go around beating people up and things I think it's OK. Just explain to him that if he wants to watch this movie he has to be mauture about it and cover his eyes when you tell him to.Who knows he could be the next big warriors fan.He could carry the tradition of being a life long warriors fan on to his kids.

Re: What age is "TOO YOUNG" to watch The Warriors???
I think 5 is the PERFECT age to share it with him, but just once. He will remember that movie for the rest of his life, and if he doesn't remember it immediately, seeing a scene from it will jog his memory, and he will go "hey, I remember seeing this with my dad once when I was little, I think it was cool." And he'll dig it, if for no other reason than nostalgia. He will always have that memory of watching it with you, and with kids today good quality time is hard to find, and if you can do something like that that you know he'll remember as long as he lives, I say it's damn worth it. I remember sittin with my dad as a wee child and watching Police Academy, Robocop, Alien, things like that. Sure, they were pretty heavy with language and violence, but that's not what I remember, I remember spending that time with my dad. Spend the time ya got now wisely, and do it memorably, because you never know how long you'll have man, and he will remember sharing your favorite movie with you. It will be special. Do it, or trust me, you'll regret it. I have a little girl who I will never get to have these memories with because my wife took off and took her with her, and I regret every second I didn't spend with her, and if you can share your absolute favorite flick with your son, it's a special binding moment you will both remember fondly forever.

Awww he's so cuuuute!!Clown Face Killer wrote: As many of you know, my oldest son is five (5) years old. Here's a pic of my little wild man:
He's seen all of my Warriors related stuff (i.e. posters, figures, etc.) and loves it all. Hell, his soccer team that I coach is even named "The Warriors" 8) . I REALLY want to have him watch The Warriors with me, but I am afraid he is too young. I'm sure my wife would kill me if she even knew I was considering letting him watch it. He's watched some mild/tame horror flicks with me and a few other action flicks and he's never gotten scared or anything like that. He's pretty mature for his age...

lol future fury there. jk

Re: What age is "TOO YOUNG" to watch The Warriors???
I think my biggest problem if I had a five year old would be the Language in the movie, i havent seen it in a while but there were some naughty words example the way fox talks to Mercy, i wouldnt like my child watching that scene

the way fox talks to mercy is tame compared to the way ajax talks to anyone.
