this Dvd has turned out to be fairly disapointing, but its still better than having nothing new at all...I suppose :(

Well, I tried my local Borders, and whaddya know, they had it, so because of my unsurpising lack of will power, I went ahead and got it. Immediate first impressions:

Packaging: Not so great.

Having to sit/skip through 4-6 dvd coming attractions before being able to access the menu: Blech.

Further impressions:

The extra interviews/documentaries are quite good. It's especially interesting to see everyone's perspective on the Thom Waites/Fox issue. Also, Baseball Furies fans should be happy, as the cast and crew unanimously declare them to be the favorite gang and discuss them fairly in-depth.

I second that!

I truely loved all the cast/crew views and impressions--I learned a lot, and laughed a lot. It was very interesting, and visually interesting too.
The comic book background looked like a big storyboard to me, and I may well end up rewatching the featurettes even more than the movie.

Yeah, that's pretty much my feeling too. The new alterations to the movie didn't add anything substantial, in my opinion, and if anything, the new transition to the Baseball Furies, and also the new static ending (I found it to be visually boring), actually took away from it.

Between the inconveniences, such as forced coming attractions and intro (I don't give a ___ about P. Diddy's new comedy dvd), quirks (a weird pause that now occurs before the Turnbull AC chase), and the lack of features, I do have to chalk this one up as a disappointment.

However, I'm still 100% certain that the game is going to make fans very happy.

just think of this new DVD as a "bonus" DVD that came with the original DVD so you got yourself a uber Special Edition version! :)

i'm gonna keep my original DVD!

Well as playusa posted mine last night I think that, on this occasion, you might be wrong.

>>>>>And you'll get it in about 2 weeks lol
Should have ordered off normal play.com its quicker and they get items about 3 days before the official release date

Well, it is called the "Ultimate Director's Cut" so I'm assuming this is the film he wants as the director as opposed to a studio cut with all the deleted scenes back in - if Hill doesn't want them included, I resect that. And if he hates commentaries, I respect that, too. Sure, commentary would have been nice but the featurettes sound cool and I'm excited about seeing the film reworked. Of course, a separate section of Deleted Scenes would have been cool. I also assume actors and whoever get paid for the commentaries, maybe the details on that couldn't be worked out or something? Regardless, I'm very excited about this DVD...
Dude, Do you work for Paramount?

Ha! Maybe he'll most enjoy the Walter Hill intro that you're forced to watch when viewing the movie, wherein the director takes the time to explain why the dvd isn't better ("Raaaar, me no believe in fancy-doodle special editions with commentary and special features!").
