Any new theories about this?  If you're a thousand + poster I'm not asking you to restate a hundred year old debate.  Just opening up  8) perspectives.

Mayb just maybe. The orphans did it so that if anyone mentioned the Meeting they were busy starting a fire.... maybe it was a reputation move?

If the Orphans had set the fire it would have been to re-route the Warriors through their turf presumably so they could take them out and gain respect from the Riffs.  At one point the Orphans were prepared to let the Warriors walk through their turf if they "came in peace".  They only got upset after Mercy began goading them.  This does not sound like the actions that the group who set the fire would take.

If the Turnbulls had done it how come none of them were waiting at the fire location for an ambush?

My vote is for the Rogues.  They had a car and could get ahead of the Warriors in order to set the fire.  They also had special incentive to ensure that none of the Warriors survived the evening.  It also fits that they hoped the fire would force another gang to take care of the Warriors and keep themselves separate from the situation.
This is a story of courage.

This is a story of war.

Perhaps The Fox was just a little paranoid? Maybe the fire was just a complete accident by a non gang member.  Its Fox's job to think about those things, so maybe he was just being cautious.

Well I mean after the huge meeting got broken up and Cyrus got murdered I bet Fox was just very cautious and thought that a gang could of set the fire, when it could of been something that was a accident and not even a gang-related crime. I would act the same way, if I didn't know what was going on.

Thats a good point, regardless if the fire was an accident, it is just like a true warrior not to underestimate the unexpected.  Well considering that Masai was told right of way that the turn bulls missed, I assume it was one of his patrols that set the fire.  Some people wonder, "well why didn't the patrols get them when they got off".  Well I assumed it was either only a few patrols that would not stand a chance against the warriors, or maybe there are a view civilians out their who work for Masai to pay a debt, and did not stick around to get japped by the warriors.  I always thought that the lord works in mysteries ways.  So no matter what obstacle God puts us in to make us learn a moral, we have to deal with the consequences.  In this universe we are like pawns on a chess board.  We are being played with to see what the outcome is.  So who knows maybe God set the fire to set the warriors on this long, hard, unfortunate, spiritual path to find their calling in life.  I know this sounds like a imaginative stretch, but I believe things happen for a reason, so who know how that fie was started.  There some higher being out there that probably puts us through these dimensions, but only "God" knows.

I'm going to say the Furies.  When the Warriors get past the Orphans, my guess is that they made their way to the next stop, which would be 96th Street station in the movie.  The Warriors are sitting around, waiting for the train to move.  At night, it's few and far between trains.  The Rogues knew the platform would be crawling with cops, so I believe other gangs would know this as well.  That could be why the Furies waited outside the station, believing the Warriors would be flushed out by police or get tired of waiting.

Well, I must correct myself.  I forgot that after the Warriors get away from the Orphans and onto the train, the train takes them to 96th Street.  For some reason, I thought they got on the train, waited there and then the cops show up  :?  I think it would have been too far away for the Furies to start that fire

Yeah I must admit to, when I first saw the warriors, I just assumed that the warriors were waiting for the train to move.  I didn't realize it hit 96th street station.  I didn't have common sense that, its obvious that the gangs changed from Orphans to Furies, so it must be a different stop.  If it were the same stop, the Furies would have already wiped the floor with the Orphans, lol.

i think the fire was made by one of the bronx gangs like Cowboy Is Cool said before, but it may not even have been on The Riffs command, maybe they just did it to be able to say that 'they set the fire that stopped The Warriors from getting home',and gain respect from other gangs that way.And maybe they planned to "jap" The Warriors too,but backed out.Could have been a rival gang to the Orphans that actually was heavy enough to go to the meeting, but still soft enough to not have the guts to bop the Warriors....

Hope that made sence to someone ...

Ye but had they(whoever was) time 4 setting the goddamn fire?
I mean, I always wonder how many mins elapsed between Masai knew "they blew it" in Turnbull AC's turf, while Warriors already running by train, and the goddamn fire in orphans turf. Are two stops so far one eachother?
More, who was sent the word, so fastly, to set fire without today's cell phones? Maybe by the radio, but it could be risky even 4 them!!!
So I think could have been a Riff member(well 2-3-4 men), went there by car 4 istance! 8)

there were many gangmembers trying to get home that night so it might have just been from previous clashes between gangs that night
