Ajax and the furies' bat
Did you ever wonder why Ajax didn't pick up the bat after he put that first Furie down? After he kicks the guy in the gut you can see it fly out of his hands. So, Ajax really didn't need to face the Furie leader empty-handed.
Of course, then we probably wouldn't have the most famous line in the movie. I'm just saying strategy-wise it probably would have been a good idea to pick up that first bat. And he definitely doesn't hesitate to grab the leader's bat off the ground.

Re: Ajax and the furies' bat
He probably was too focused on the fight, that he didnt concentrate in the bat falling down. Or maybe he wanted to get a point across that he can take the furie down no problem without packed, maybe he wanted to make the fight more suspensful and intresting.

Re: Ajax and the furies' bat
this is just a funny thought but Ajax could have been saving the bat to turn the baseball fury into a popscicle and he didnt want the bat to be ruined for it. lol...just a funny thought.
Re: Ajax and the furies' bat
i think if it was any other gang member, he would have. but seeing as how it was the leader of one of the toughest gangs in the city, ajax saw an oppurtunity to get his rep up. also, anyone ever notice how before he knocks him out, ajax looks at the fury leaders bat motions as if hes studying him, looking for an opening/weakness?

Re: Ajax and the furies' bat
Later for a flunkie's bat. He wanted the bat of the leader! I'll compare it to shooting down the sheriff's department, then proceeding to whoop the sheriff's butt n' takin' his badge. Plus, Ajax had it in his head that they were wimps, so I'm pretty sure it didn't even cross his mind that he might even need a bat to defend himself against 'em. I don't even think he took the bat thinkin' he might need it on their way back to Coney. From what I get of Ajax, he took it as a symbol of his conquering the baddest of the bad...and if the head Furie's girlfriend was there, he woulda taken her too!KillerMime wrote: Did you ever wonder why Ajax didn't pick up the bat after he put that first Furie down?
